If not, could you possibly tell me of any sort of alternative burn therapy treatment for SEVERE burn victims. Such reconstruction of nose, ears and lips? Any such therapy/surgery would work, even European stuff that isn't accepted in the United Staes -- Babydoc, this is a serious request... I'm not a doctor of medicine, and my research is pretty feutile.

Hey, Fonz! Maybe you could help answer my question too... the same thing I asked Babydoc... I'm SURE with medical science out there, there is SOME sort of treatment for a girl who was burned like Jaqui... but I'm SURE it is something obscure and alternative... perhaps something in Europe... I have only found treatements for like... people with partial burns or just weak burns.. nothing like hers...

I'd appreciate it MONDO if you could help.

She was. But now she has to move on. At last I heard, she was in Lexington, Kentucky (or Louisville)...

She is looking to regain the use of her hands, get a new nose, ears, and lips... these are EXTENSIVE surgeries... not just burn treatments... they have done what they can do for her there...

She now needs RECONSTRUCTIVE surgery, with not no skin to work with on her own body ... but alot of hope. They are checking out doctor after doctor, recommendation after recommendation... but I KNOW there are alternative therapies out there... I KNOW there are... with medical science... maybe in Europe?

Maybe there is a place, that can make a skin tight mask, can be MOLDED to your face, that will be SUPER LIFELIKE, and can be tailored to look exactly like her... so she could wear it out in publc... not a shitty mask, but a really really lifelike thing... Man, there has to be something, Kel, could you talk to babydoc?

I have heard of a treatment where they can grow skin in a petri dish. For victims such as Jaqui where there simply isn't enough good skin left for grafting, they can take small pieces from the unburned parts and cultutre the skin in a nutrient solution. Thus small pieces (say 1 mm by 1 mm) can grow into much larger patches.

I have also seen stuff about synthetic skin. It's like a guaze pad but you put it right on the burn and your skin kind of fills in the holes.

I think there are also combinations of the above therapies, like skin cells are put in a framework and the whole thing is put in a petri dish and the skin grows to encompass the framework. Like the Terminator only for skin.

I've heard of people growing ears on the backs of mice? Have you seen this?

Yeah, I'd like to get like a number or something of these clinics... perhaps send it along to Jaqui... maybe she has not explored this idea yet.
