At what age did you move out and WHY?

18, left for college, home first 2 summers, then down here full time. Never moved back. Had financial help at first through loans and parents, but got a job in college and started supporting myself.

1. How old?

2. Why?

3. Was paying rent worth it vs living for free in parents home?

4. Any other comments?

1. 17, junior in high school.

2. my ol man had a rent house he let me live in with a buddy, as long as we covered the utilities.

3. it was basically free.

4. it was kickass! the partying got so bad parents of fellow classmates complained to the school and didnt want thier kids coming over. i rarely went to school, partied so hard the neighbors were signing a petition to get it stopped. cops were there routinly. got tired of the shit and moved back home till i joined the navy.

18 and one week old when i ranaway sort of - i didnt tell my stepmother or father i was leaving to go out of town i just took off and when i came back my stepmother was ticked and so i sort of got kicked out/moved out.

i dont know if at first it was a smart idea cause i didnt finish school like i could have; i lost my job that i had since i was 14 and i got married to a loser and didnt have a home for a while - i even lived on the streets for a certain amount of time.

now i have a beautiful home wonderful man and a nice paying job ( not my dream job)
I dont think i would do it all over again if i was given the chance because even at the age of 23 i know i have learned the best and most fruitful of lessons. the one thing i cherish the most is the lesson i learned about cherishing everyone and everything even if it isnt always in my interest or a positive thing.

Do you consider college moving out? Lived about 8 hours away from home for four years during college, but didn't pay my entire way through that so it probably doesn't count.

I moved out at age 24. Would have been sooner, but I went to grad school 10 minutes from my parents' house and was too smart to not take advantage of free room and board. The extra money spent is definitely worth it. It makes it difficult, but for me, personal freedom and privacy is one of the most important things for my own happiness.

u fukin pussies i was kicked out when i was 13 for sellin weed , moved back in when i was 16 and left nwhen i was 17. indipendance has been a liberator for me now i'm lookin to as to help me grow and get more respect for myself and my family can anyone relate or is this board full of pansies that burried them selves home till they were 25????
I didn't realize that liberation affected spelling ability. I should of been kicked out at 13.

Moved out at 17. Told my dad that I wanted to join the military, and he signed off on the paperwork. My brother, on the other hand, lived with my parents until he was 30.

I officially left home to take care of myself when I was 21. I moved into an apartment at my grandfather's house. My mother owned the home, so I didn't have to pay rent. However I had to pay utilities. It was nice. I left NYC when I was 22 and moved to VA to start my life over. I didn't have any family, friends or acquaintances in the D.C. metropolitan area. Best decision of my life.
what you running from?
