"At least 10,000 dead"..mayor Guianni

New Yorks lord mayor has just been on t/v here in Ireland stating that he expects at least 10,000 dead. And over 100,000 injured this can't be right. I can't believe whats happened today.
I'm in a state of shock all day.
I'm in the flight path of Dublin airport and everytime I hear a flight today I'm reminded of you poor people in America.

I mean there were about 50,000-1000,000 people in that area.... And US government might not tell the REAL amount of casualties (not to scare people)

I've heard the two towers employ around 44,000 people, plus you have all the pedestrians outside the building, plus all the emergency crew members that were called in, the death toll could be VERY high.

It is possible we could see numbers like that. The WTC is a combined 220 floors (or it was) and each floor was ONE ACRE. The number of people there is staggering. Wall Street, the Stock Exchange etc, are all within blocks. 10,000 dead is probably pretty close., but it could be 25,000.

Injured??? 100,000 plus from smoke inhalation and who knows what else.

unfortunately, i think the death toll will be far greater than 10,000.00. up to 50,000.00 worked in both towers. you have to include the vistors in the building. and what about the people in the outlining areas? i saw a picture of a building burning next to the trade center. i work in a 4 story building and have participated in numerous fire drills. these fire drills are typically orderly and it takes awhile to file out of the building (naturally the elevators are turned off). can you imagine how long it would take for 50,000 people to walk down 100 flights in complete confusion and chaos?

this is a incredibly sad event. i wish the survivors and family of the victims the very best. and the perpetrators a slow and agonizing death...
