at-home leg presses that don't completely suck

assuming i run across some money, i was halfway interested in buying some sort of leg press-esque device for home use. i have a squat rack, but i want to focus a few months on deadlifts and use leg press as complementary to this. squats + deads in any routine simultaneously fry my CNS/lower back.

regardless if you accept my reasoning, i've seen a few 'powertec' devices that look halfway not horrible, eg the leg sled. any feedback from crap like this? i'm tremendously skeptical of such equipment, but i've heard a few halfway good things about powertec.

you could alternate intensity of each excercise...

like squats heavy, deads light

or you could do them both on the same day with different variations of each exercise

good mornings to a 3 rep max, squats 3x5

something like that maybe

no substitute for squats or Deadlift IMO. just do a light squat day the a heavy deads day followed by a reverse order

maybe you're not understanding me. i don't care about your gym lore, i'm asking for feedback on the actual device :)

or any leg presses that one could purchase for a not stupid price.

god damn you, i'm not here to debate. lol

the logic is appallingly simple. squats fuck up my lower back, partially due to contraindications of my own unique aspects as a trainee. i do work on squats, heavily, but i am interested in a DEADLIFT FOCUSED PROGRAM FOR A FEW MONTHS. boy, imagine the logic of that, specificity :\

i have found from experience that squats of EVERY sort impair my lower back recovery, as my back takes over some of the load from my largely slow-twitch (as reliable as it can get from fatigue testing, my quads are extraordinarily slow twitch) quads. front squats, back squats, any squat you can name.

this is the point. even if you don't agree with it, it's irrelevent. i'm not ditching squats permanently in favor of a leg press, that's stupid.

however, i am interested in FOCUSING on increasing strength in the deadlift (my own subjective desire), and am aware of how i can do this. a leg press is a reasonable compromise, given my situation and subjective desires.

now, onto critiquing actual leg presses...
