Arnold's Glory Days!

Does anyone have any real idea of what guys like Arnold, Lou, Ed Corney, & Franco were using back in the Golden Years? From the little I have heard they were taking only small doses (compared to todays standards) of things like Dbol. I ask because those physiques were awsome and you never saw or heard of those guys having problems with "Backne" or gyno. I wouldn't minf having one of their builds one day!

They would take a few dbol a day and a few ccs of deca each week. Thats about it.

Rumor had it Ken Waller took the highest dose ever known in there era. He supposedly got up to 2.5 grams of deca. Everyone thought he would die. Funny how things change.

If you look a couple pages back you will find a few threads just like this.
Thanks. That helped a bit but from what it sounds like we may never know just what and how much he was taking. Some people were raving about his genetics but I have to say it was probably his training and drug program. I believe genetics only goes so far. If you look at L. Rea's new book it shows a few pictures of him. His "before" picture was a joke! You'd swear that if the wind blew to hard it'd knock him over. He didn't look like he could build an ounce of muscle. Then, 5 years later, a whole new bod! Myself, I was 125#'s as a freshman in highschool, the "SCRAWN-MEISTER" to beat all :nerd: , one of the most picked on kids in school! Now at 33 years of age I carry a solid 198#'s of natural lean mass. It wasn't because of genetics that I ended up here, it was because I busted my ass in the gym for many, many years! Now I'm ready to step it up another notch.

wow those are some awesome pics thanks for te links i think genetics mild drug use and balls out training was the main reasons for arnies success (i cant spell lol)

Well in the Pumping Iron's DVD there's an interview with Arnold where he speak about the reality of that time. When he talks about steroid use at that time, of course he says he used steroids; as a mode of example he says "we used to take 5 anabols a day". Of course we know Anabol are ht eclassic pink dbols...and 5X5 are 25mg a day. But there are others factors that contribute to made those "perfect bodies". It was lifestyle. Life at those years was wonderful. The day was way slower than today. A young male with a good part time job was enough to pay a cheap rent and his food. The "credit cancer" didn't exist at those years like today. Those guys spent hours at the gym, talking and training very hard. And the training routines were very different from today. Today's freak monsters doesn't have for example chests even closer to Arnold's. And that's something Arnold says in the interview. The training, the intensity, the passion, the concentration was 100% real. Today, we just don't have time for that. Unless you live from walfare. Diet, was good enough to build muscle. Today we have monsters eating tons of food every day only to look freak and not proportioned. Anyway, it was a very different world.

Like I have said a million times there are so many guys looking for that magic cycle when all it really comes down to is hard work, a good diet and dedication. These guys had this figured out way back in the day. No amount of drugs can make up for that and I will personally guarantee that one.

those guys trained like 4 hours a fucking day or something like that didn't they? I would be asking more about thier training and diet than about their cycles.

True on that shit, holmes.

:chomp:

Yeah I think it was training and diet. Did you see them order in pumping iron...ok who eats like that 6 times a day ?? Also alot of people train less now. Everyone seems to think they overtrain yet in arnolds book and back then they do a hell of alot more work...Maybe we're lazy and this 1 set to failure idea is just BAD thinking...I think we need more volume and bros need to up the intensity....

Good point Jubei, those guys trained like ANIMALS!! They practically lived at the gym. Arnold says it right in the P.I. video, they "...worked out 5 hours a day, lifting 50 tons of weight...(obviously talking about tonage)" You definately can't get around that!!

Yep, I agree. Arnold has always said that the key to his chest development was DB pullovers.
I haven't even seen anyone do a DB pullover in at least 5 years....

Y'all guys know what?. From some time ago I changed my way of training. Started to use old skewl exercises, changing routines from session to session, increased intensity of workouts and I'm seeing results. The muscle that has better improvements is definitelly chest. Looks wider and fuller. Also I'm experimenting with my diet. I'm an ecto and instead of eating like 6-8 times a day, I'm eating like 4 or 5. Everybody when it's time to train chest, start with bench press or dumbell presses just to impress people with weights and giving importance to "how much" instead of "How you look". And that's just an example. As a whole, people is not focusing on the main goals. Size, shape, proportion, perfection. That is more important for me than trying to show people a freak lift of tons of weight.

djufo.
