what's going on ombudsmen? deader than fugwhere has armyvet been?
MIA?
he was a great guy
What's your take on the cotto and pac fight?
Isn't he a Pavlik fan? What's his take on Pavlik/Williams?
i agree manBad match up for Palvlik. He got's a lot more talent and advantages over him. Williams has been wating for someone w/ a big name to give him a chance again. He's the real deal. Paul on any given night just on his talent alone can win and become a champion on any given night. I have a feeling Paul will win this by out scoring him. He's has more opitions and is the better boxer, skill wise.
pacs got it man. hes so quick its unbelievable.

You are picking Pavlik over Paul? Why?
cause i seen willams lose that 1st fight to that bum quintana .. yes he won the rematch but still.. williams is talented but sloppy
Quintana is no bum bro. He's puerto rico's 2nd best welter in that country. William's got's the whole game down. He lose's if he choose's to lose. He gots the height, reach, power, age, and skills to make it happen. Pavlik just hits harder. He can win if he connects and paul try's to slug it out in the pocket, or not use the ring, and reach. Other then that, he has more outlets to win and can win. That's my reason for picking pual. It's won't be easy by any means. Palvik is a popluar fighter that people don't want to see lose. I feel just like cotto he lost something in his lost to Bhop. Will have to wait and see how he performs. Palvik is always dangerous with his power.

I'm going to pick Pavlik in this fight. I don't think Williams is as good as Taylor, who Pavlik dismantled with ease. I also think Williams is not a natural middleweight and Pavlik will be the bigger man. I also don't think Williams has the power to hurt Pavlik. He tends to cuff his punches a bit, rather than snap at full extention, which hurts his power.
I miss ArmyVet. Get in here bro!

I agree.
Sorry to be late in replying to this. I have been away. Just busy. I love it here just had other shit going on.
IMO Cotto lost some of his mojo in the Margarito fight. It showed really bad in this last fight. I think Manny has a better trainer, a much better chin, more speed and maybe more power than Cotto. Plus Cotto is not running at full speed now. Plus, his is in between trainers and has lots of shit going on in his life.
If Cotto comes in like he did for his last fight I predict Manny by KO.
As for Pavlik and Williams, I really like Williams as a fighter but he has not been tested at 160. His win over Winky was good but Winky was coming off a very long lay-off and Winky is no longer in his prime.
I think Williams has better endurance and maybe more speed but Pavlik has stronger punches and I think he has the edge in this. Pavliks loss to Hopkins occurred due to injuries and the flu. He wasn't throwing his jab and it was obvious something was wrong in that fight. I am not taking the win from Hopkins. He is an ATG, but IMO the fight would have been closer if Pavlik was operating at 100%. Pavlik still lost and there are really no excuses for a loss but it is important to look at everything in its context.
I do think Williams can outwork Pavlik but Williams does not use his height. He is tall and hunches down and does not throw long punches. Pavlik does. IMO if Pavlik stays on the outside with the jab the fight will be in his favor.
Also recognize there is a big difference between a 6'1" Williams beating up short guys at 147 and beating up a taller fighter with a longer reach (with more power) at 160. I do think it will be an interesting fight.
Good points. Still favor paul more. I think he'll do just enough to pull off the win and because he's facing a power puncher, he's going to be foreced into fighting more smart. I give props to palvik for taking such a hard fight.
I am happy Pavlik stepped up to the plate too. He better bring his game! IMO if Williams wins this will be a very big win for him. I saw his bio on HBO and it was a good one. He is a class A fighter and a class A human being. So is Pavlik. It is hard sometimes watching two good guys fight each other. Say unlike Mayweather who I want to see get beaten into a bloody pulp. lol
Oh gawd!
More boxing. Somebody put a round in my head.
The real shame is Palvik and Bute aren't included in the supermiddle tourment. Would of made things a lot more interesting.
The Filipino kid has decent skills, a great right jab and left hook! I loved the combos too. He must have training by the way he was using his feet and handwork.
Army Vet, what do you think about Bernabe Concepcion?
He looks bigger than 5'4" in that vid. Excellent maneuvering off of the ropes and getting his opponent back in the middle of the ring. Fast too.
IMO He needs to step it up and fight better opponents. He has a solid record. I didn't see his last fight but he got a DQ for punching the guy after the bell lol It must have been obvious if he got a DQ! haha
You watch the fight last night? Diaz didn't win that fight. I am not a fan of Paulie but he did extremely well.
Saw it today. Paulie got robbed. I feel that he was able to control the pace, never allowed diaz to stay set, moved well, didn't stay infront of him the whole fight... anyone that has two eyes could see....everyone knows he outboxed Diaz. BULLSHIT! Another unjustice in boxing. Shit decision like this, need to fucking stop. The real winner wasn't praised.
I watched the pre-fight conference and Paulie even said he was going to get robbed. I'm not a big fan of Paulie because of his mouth but after his performance with Cotto and this I gotta give it to him for stepping up when the time comes. It takes guts to fight a guy like Diaz in his hometown.
IMO I like Diaz and don't blame him for the hometown bias but based on his performance last night he might want to go back down to 135. He is still young too. He'll have a great career.
Pualie kind of knew shit was going down. I'd hate to be the one who busted his ass, put on the best performance of is career, do everything to win, showcased on the top plateform on HBO, and to only have it taken away. That's fucked! He got fucked! This is an example of how the world is messed up. Whenever it comes to money, people become shady and fuck others in the ass to get what they want. Fuck them and there black fuckin' hearts! How do the fuck do people sleep at night and get off on taking things away from people that work hard and do the right things, to just get ahead in life? People in the world like this make me SICK!! Fuck the business world. They value money, but that holds no value later in life. How they want to be pretrayed in life? There is more value in being the best person you can become in life and doing everything right to get where you want to get in life, without using others. Can't respect anyone uses these tactic and they have no honor. Fuck them! I feel bad for Paulie.
I agree. It hurts me even more to see this happen in the sport of boxing. All we watch is 12 rounds of action but these guys but their hearts and souls into training for years just to get to this point. Then they punch each other in the face for 12 rounds and get fucked in the ending.
Those judges need to be banned from the sport.
Diaz lost the fight but it was close. The 118-110 score was just nuts. Max Kellerman made a great cogent point after the fight:
“He has to some degree an Italian fighting out of New York city but given his style and his lack of punching power he has not been able to cultivate the kind following that Juan Diaz has been able to here in Houston with a Mexican and Mexican American fight crowd that really appreciates and just fight fans generally that really appreciates his style of fighting the fact that every Juan Diaz fight is always exciting and so for that reason Juan Diaz winds up with the powerful promoter and the hometown decision, possibly if you consider this a hometown decision and so even thought every fighter deserves always fair shake I think here the market place spoke and Juan Diaz gets the nod.”
We don't want to see a fighter running backward while throwing pitty pat punches that do no damage.
As for Diaz, he's a solid but not championship caliber fighter. He's a bit too slow and doesn't have the pop required to be an effective pressure fighter against championship fighters. Also, I've never seen so much "pudge" on a fighter of this level before. He needs to get serious and cut down to 130, where he will be able to compete better.

What did you guys think of the co feature bouts that night? I wasn't impressed with both smith and jacobs that night. Saw a lot of weakness in both. Smith needs to let his hands go. He's to busy being defensive minded. He has the tools but he chooses not to use them all. Smith is example of where the mind dosen't meet the body. To his credit he has made some improvements, but still needs more work. If he don't stop fighting this way, it will always be smiths fault, and he will move even further down in the rankings. He was fighting a young prospect that gave him openings, circled towards his power hand, his legs weren't always under him at times, and was being hurt by his punches. He should of put the pressure, hit the body so much more, and went out swinging. Sometimes you have to take chances to come out on top. Will see if they both take from this and learn. Great boxers continue to improve.
