Are there any hunters here?

I'm thinking about picking up bow hunting. I have a couple friends that have a considerable amount of land with cabins and such. They are avid hunters and are trying to push me into it. Can I get a decent compound bow for ~500 just to see if this sticks? I've been a successful poon hunter for years time to step it up perhaps.

I killed an elk in Arizona at 65 yards, but it was in very open terrain and with a bow shooting a hunting set up at 330 plus ft per second.

Find you a good used Matthews bow bro, something like the older ZMax, UltraMax or even the Q32. You should be able to pick anyone of those bows up for 500 and they will alwyas be lifetime warrented, so if you blow a limb or crack a riser just take it back and it's fixed no questions.

It'd be a lot easier for sure. Most people I know bow hunt after they get bored with a rifle. Doesn't mean you can't start with a bow though. I'm just assuming there won't be as much action with a bow because less will be within range.

You going to be hunting whitetail deer? I'm goin to slip out of work early today to try and get that big buck I've been hunting. I'll post pics if I get him.

and depends on what you are hunting...duck hunting/pheasent/partridge/ground nesting birds are what you would use a shotty for (though peeps do hunt deer with shottys using slugs)...and that is definetly not a n00b sport and requires alotta gear (gear mostly for duck hunting)and preferably a dog to retrieve...if that was what you want to get into join a gun range and practice shooting clay pigeons, great fun and get's your skills up.
rifle hunting for deer would be an easier way to start out, easier to post up in a ohio field near a bait pile and wait for a deer to come than hunting birds from what i've found.

I'm a humanitarian baby, this is only population control. Do you have any idea how many traumas I see an ugly due to car/motorcycle vs. Deer? I'm saving lives by thinning out the herd a smidge. Hug it out?

Me and the lil girl sit in the fields and play games on the phone, if something shows good if it don't whatever.

Never really been into that too much, mainly because every fucktard around here who kills a spike is taking measurements and shit. Have taken a 170 class with a rifle and a couple of black bear in the mountains. My best bow buck was low 160's. These days I'd rather hunt turkey and ducks. Man duck hunting is awesome, it's fast furious, get your ducks and get yo ass back to the house.. I've hunted with some pretty big names in the industry, like a friend who is a world class taxidermist and a buddy of mine who owned Shannon Outdoors, the guy that invented the original Bug Tamer Camo, so I have actually been on top of some world class animals a time or two, really enjoyed taking an Elk, if you have never hunted Elk, do so.

I don't place more value on living beings (animal or human), so if people die from hitting a deer, then so be it! They need to be more f*cking careful! Imagine how the deer felt?!

Deers have a bad habit of darting across the road with no warning. And deer population in some parts of north america (central TX, where I live) is a real problem causing imbalances in the ecosystem and environment regardless of human population. In some areas hunters are paid to cull out deer and hog to cut the numbers down.
Im curious, if your family member and a deer were drowning in a river or something, you would not be able to decide who to save?

even in more cosmopolitan s/oregon i can't find any shop that does...i call them and they say sure we carry it and i go in and they have marlboro or camel snus which is majorly weaksauce.
