Is Taurine synergistic with other stims, or does it act as a stim on it's own?

I'm not sure of it's synergism with the other ingredients.

I bought a monster energy drink not to long ago and the gas station attendant said, "You kids and your taurine. Just gotta have that taurine". I thought it was the funniest shit ever.
