I've been considering getting a set of these to work out at home or while on the road. I was looking at a set of Bowflex that go up to 52.5 lbs. It's not a lot of weight but I'm coming off a several year layoff due to injury so it should be enough to start with. It would be light for dumbell bench presses or shrugs but it's perfect for flys, curls, shoulder presses, etc.

Do you think a guy could get a decent workout in with a set of these?

I know what you're saying about it not being enough weight. When I was at my peak it would have not been anywhere near what I needed but now that I'm at my lowest point, I think the poundage is enough for me. I'll probably grow out of them for some exercises pretty quickly. I am guessing that they are probably the right weight for bench pressing now.

I've own a set of bowflex dumbells and have had them
for 4 years, they feel great in my hands there thick and rubber grips, easy to change the weight around... And they save a shit load of room at the house... So a set of those with some heavier ones u can add as needed IMO is a good idea...

if owning a set of 50 lb dumbells is your only option then go for it...dont expect much in results but if it gets you in gear it can be a stepping stone

I have used the bowflex adjustables. I know everyone hates the bowflex name, but these are actually pretty damn nice. Seem like they're very well put together. If you're worried about out growing them too soon they make a set that goes to like 105lbs I think.

I forgot my password and I can't remember the e-mail address I used when I signed up. I had it set up where I was automatically logged in each time but then something happened and I must have lost a cookie or something.

Right now I feel and look so bad that I don't like to go to the gym. I'm hoping the dumbells will get me back into it mentally and then eventually get me back in the gym regularly. When I first started lifting weights I worked out at home and had some of the best workouts of my lifting career. Of course I was 15 yrs old and gains came much easier.

I agree... go for it. I owned a set of PowerBlock dumbells and had a small gym in my house when I lived in a small town and the closest gym was 30 miles away. As you probably know, you can do tons of exercises for all different bodyparts with dumbells. Like you said, it will give you a jumping off point to get started, get in better shape, so that you can show your mug in the gym again.
