They have been stepping up their recruiting ads on the local tv's here in South FL. Not sure why... I mean I would suspect most would view them as the least manly macho of the enlistment service options to pick.

What are their benefits like compared to the others?

I've alwys heard the Coast Guard has one of the more difficult basic trainings mentally. And if I recall correctly, they do not need to treat their inductess with the same standards of, well, let's say compassion, that the other military branches do. They have higher standards because they have less places to fill so they can be pickier.

It's harder to get in, and if you do get in, they're going to break you down (I know someone who had a mental collapse during Coast Guard basic, he never was the same after).

Benefits ... basically same as any other military branch but generally speaking, I don't think they ever get deployed out of the country (I could be wrong there).
