Anyone here ever have kittens?

Thick dog

Me and the girlfreind got a baby male on Saturday and got a baby female yesterday. All last night all they did was fight. The male seems to resent the female stealing some of his attention. I think they are too young to already be territorial and he has only been there 3 days longer than her. We got 2 because we didn't want to leave one little kitten by itself all day while we are gone, but I hope they will get along. Anyone ever have 2 kittens, and if so, how did they act towards each other?

She will eventually beat the poopies out of him and he will yield = marital bliss.

They will adjust and will be fighting like a typical married couple soon enough! :)

Give them a few days to a few weeks to settle in and they will be fine. The fun part is when the start chasing each other all over the place and the tackles are classic mid waist slams. They'll be fine after a while.

Make sure you get one of them fixed - I've never had male cats but from what I hear they tend to spray a lot. Females can be down right bitches if they aren't fixed - cat calling all night and hissing up a storm. The one female cat I had would go into heat and sit in the window calling to every cat in the neighborhood and sure enough a male cat would spring toward the window.

Damn cats.

The male is already neutered and the female will be spayed in a month. Right now she is the playful one. She'll go up to him wanting to play, and al he'll do is hiss at her.

...just like a freaking man!

He will chill out in time. Must have been wacked around a bit.

We have 2 females, which is worse. The wore thing that you can do is get 2 cats. Even though you do it with the best intentions ( like we did ) they would rather be alone. But our 2 fought at first it only lasts a couple of weeks. After that they will be fine.

I have 3 cats right now, all of which I've had since they were kittens. When they were younger, they used to play rough all the time. They'd grapple one another, kick, claw, bite, scratch, you name it. But they never seriously injured one another. I broke 'em up a couple of times, but never anything too major.

Be glad the male's fixed. No fun having him spray, and most unaltered males will spray at some point.

Oh, and one other piece of advice for you: LitterMaid! Makes dealing with the catbox much easier.

My cat had a mate but we had to give him the heave ho (and yes, they were both fixed) as he became too agressive (had nothing to do with the cats themselves). Sadly, now my baby is lonely. She actually throws up if I go away for the weekend. I was seriously considering getting her another playmate, but right now it just isn't a good idea.

they'll get over it quickly... i have two kittens, brother and sister from the same litter... they were fine when i brought them home, but i took them both to get their 'operations' ... the male came home that day, the female the next... and when i brought the girl home, they fought, i was pretty freaked out by the whole experience, never heard them hiss and growl like that before... but after a day or two it was fine... (i was worried about her, b/c she had stiches...)

try to be around whenever they are in the same room (if you have to leave the house and they're still fighting, put them in separate rooms...)

try playing with them with a toy like one of those stick things with feathers on them, that will distract them both at the same time and get them used to each other

in short, they'll be fine...

I had a kitten and slightly older ferret. The kitten hunted the ferret ruthlessly. But the now grown up cat thinks it is a ferret, so I guess the ferret won, eventually.
