rtemple you ahve a good point there.

Shrinks basically try one med after the other. If, like me, one of the meds happens to deal with your problem, then problem solved, pretty much. If not, they just shrug their shoiulders and say well, let's try another one.

Thing is, they don't know much about the brain. THey know that med X has a good effect, sometimes, on some people, and they think they know what happens in the body but don't know why it works for some and not others etc. Probably to do with the individuality of everyone's neurophysiology.

Since there isn't a good understanding of how neural messages to go make up a human mind, they have no way of knowing how inpacting on your neurons is going to affect you or if it will.

My condolences BTW, I used to be high/crash/high/crash all the time and it SUCKED.

It takes about 3 weeks to really get into your system. You start at 20mg and then go up in 10s or 20s until you hit the desired dosage. When I went from 60 to 90 the difference was too much. At 60 I was on the verge of being zoned all the time and the doc insisted that I go to 90 (his idea of a therapeutic dose). I was zoned all day and yes, if a dog walked over and pissed on my leg I would be like “whatever”. You are so friggin zoned that no matter what is going on you really don’t give a shit.

I was on prozac for about 6 mo's, I wanted to try it after reading an art. in businesss week about business exec's using it to gain an edge
so yeah at 20mgs you're gonna still get pissed off at that dog

my appetite increased after taking it, food tasted better also sex was incredible very intense orgasms. Just don't mix with alcohol

I am on Zoloft and Doxepin

Yeah, anti-depressants do take a while to work, but they DO work if taken properly.
I take 200mgs of Zoloft in the AM and 50mgs of Doxepin in the evening. I have never felt better or looked better. The Zoloft helps keep me focused on anything I do. I don't drink anything but water either, so that plays a large part as well.

dude, family doctors pretty much prescribe them out like candy. go see a doctor and tell him your depressed and he'll make you fill a questionaire and bam, anti-depressant time.

that said, I don't think they'll help you.

I don't see why people have a hard time figuring out that it's normal to feel sad when something happens like a breakup.
