any good? buddy been waiting to get gyno surgery and he had some shitty insurance through work but they are changing to AETNA. he's hoping this insurance is better.

lots of people will have different experiences when it comes to insurance and it mostly depends on their personal situation and what plan they have/coverage they have, and what area of the country they live in.

My brother is a group sales manager for Aetna.

well I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. Basically they pay for everything.

The last one he had was PCHS or some shit like that.

Plans vary so much that it's hard to say what's best for your friend, aap. Some people benefit more from an HMO, others fbenefit from a PPO or Open Choice plan. Some people have huge deductibles, some have PMF (personal medical fund), etc.

Oh yeah,. AETNA is much larger than PHCS and larger is sometimes better as far as network coverage areas etc. But who knows what the specific plan is going to offer to his employer group?

Me and my family all have Aetna HMO through work.
Great weekly contribution rates and the co-pays pharmacy etc are exactly like the Cigna etc plans that wanted ass raping contribution rates.

Many people poo poo on HMO's, but if you are in a large metro area and follow the few simple rules and processes, they are fantastic as to service benefits, coverage and paying the bills.

Anyone knows of my recent medical issues with the kid will agree I have had the chance to let them show their stuff (Aetna), and they came through without a hitch.

A case worker was assigned and they even called the house without being asked after she was released from the hospital. Explained all the various benefits she could get that were covered such as nursing visits, diabetic classes, nutrition stuff etc that we weren't aware of.

People that have issues with HMO's are dumb asses that don't follow the process or want Viagra or some shit to be covered.
Or people that live out in BFE with like 3 Doctors and one hospital.

I had blue cross/blue shield HMO when I had my son, and from my very first pre-natal doctor visit, until the time I brought him home from the hospital, the total out-of-pocket cost for me was a whopping $10.

I have AETNA through my parents

All I know is I go to any damn doctor I please, any prescription is paid for. We have costed them well over a million in surgeries and shit.

Wish I could tell you more than that.

Upper case AAP, does changing insurance affect your friend's coverage because this may be considered a "pre-existing condition"? I read that all the time, what the hell could it mean, if not in this case? He's switching midway through this whole thing?

I have BCBS PPO it's OK. ehhh.

***EDIT Disregard. I see it gyno surgery. lol I thought the other gyno...

With AAP's friend, I assumed wrong I guess.
