jeez ive been stuggling with my knee injury

I have horrible knees! I suffer from PFS and right now in fact for a few weeks I have had fluid around the left knee and unable to bend the knee fully or even do a bodyweight squat. Yes I have a lot of bodyweight, but I should be able to withstand my ownself!

I hobble around. Need physical therapy

Threadjack!

i had acl reconstruction and they cut out most of my miniscus.....it sucks. when I'm lifting hard, it is always stiff. i fucking hate it.

i've got two. . .bone-on-bone. . .this device has given me a SIGNIFICANT amount of relief. . .http://www.bionicare.com/

i can actually squat again. . .not nearly as heavy (i used to be up over 500) and not much past 90 degrees. . .but the improvements over the last year are nothing short of miraculous. . .

is that available by prescription?

my ortho recommended it and i'm fighting with my insurance company right now to cover it (some do. . .blue cross doesn't). . .it's not terribly expensive, it's just the principle. . .i'm self-employed and i pay around $1,000/mo. for health insurance for my family and i and the insurance company doesn't want to cover an extremely economical device that has allowed me to put off total knee replacements (waaaaaaayyyyy expensive) for an indefinite period. . .they're stupid fucking assholes. . .sorry for the soapbox rant. . .

bottomline? i don't know if you need a scrip if the insurance company ain't gonna cover it anyway. . .i got it from these people http://www.rsmedical.com/

thanks digimon for the links

just helpin' a brother out :)

i could talk all day long about how that damn thing has changed my life over the last year. . .my knees went downhill fast and after my last surgery i was damn near crippled. . .i'll never be able to run a marathon (fucking hate running anyway), but i can get out in the backyard and teach my son how to set your weight on your feet on a tackle trap play (so as to disguise your intentions), and then execute it so the poor stupid bastard on the other end of the line never sees it coming. . .till it's to late. . .i have so much to teach my son. . .and now i can. . .

I had my knee scoped once for some fragmented tissue. My knee was constantly inflammed and a quick 20 minute procedure fixed it

every night. . .after i get done banging my wife (or what have you). . .i put it on and wear it while i sleep. . .small price to pay to avoid tkr's. . .plus they're doing some real innovative things with articular cartilage replacement. . .i'm actually on a list for a clinical trial http://clinicaltrials.gov/ hope they call :)

It says it can take 4-6 months to notice improvements. Sounds like a scam. I tried electro therapy before, it just aggitated the shit out of my knee. Chriropracters are gypsies.

i am hoping by the time I need a knee replacement, that they will have the ability to replace the cartilage instead :) knee replacements are hell.

thanks for the info man.

oh. . .it absolutely takes that long. . .in fact, in my case the pain got quite a bit worse before it got better. . .but after a few months, my left knee (the really bad one) improved so much that it passed my right one (my less bad one) in strength and range of motion. . .so i got another one for my right knee. . .i don't believe anything i hear and only half of what i see. . .this thing works. . .nothing to lose if you try it :whatever:

oh. . .and this was prescribed by my orthopedic surgeon. . .the dude is wicked smart (princeton grad. . .academic scholarship) and researches the shit out of everything. . .

I used to from heavy squats but backed off the excessively heavy stuff for a while, cleaned up my form a little, stretched my knee out every night, and eventually got better. I can even sprint again.
