(assuming you mean California) My family had a little place there up til I was 18. That's awhile ago (I sold it in 1985 like a dumbass when I inherited it), but I can say that Hermosa is the nicer of the South Bay beaches. Redondo has no real beach, and Manhattan is too crowded and you smell the sewage plant in half of it. Hermosa has it's own fire/police, and is clean overall, and AFAIK, has a non-corrupt local government and no bum/wine-o problems (unlike Santa Monica). I don't get down there much now, but I know a lot of people who live there and are happy with it. (NOT so happy with the cost of housing though, but I assume you've looked into that! ).
