Anyone from D.C?

I'm headed there for a few days next week and am interested to see what spots you all think my friend and me should hit. Any must sees?

How long are you going to stay? Will it be over a weekend? The usual tourist stuff is cool. Any of the Smithsonian museums (esp. Air and Space and American History museums) 7th St NW has transformed into a great place to hang out. Andale, Legal Seafood, and in Chinatown, the is a great BBQ joint on H St.

If you don't mind the line, the Spy Museum is cool too. I haven't been yet, because the lines on the weekend are outrageous.

If you are in town over the weekend and want to party, check out V.I.P. It's close to the MCI Center downtown. Hope this helps!

I am. and freebalin is right.

also check out georgetown, lots of places to eat, drink and shop and you can get to them all on foot.

I like the usual touristy stuff, too, and Georgetown. You can walk or catch the Metro mostly everywhere in the area so you can get some exercise. :)

I recommend visiting the Holocaust Museum, too, if you can and the JFK Center for the Perfoming Arts...for a cerebral experience, of course.

Have fun!

my house is a good place:fro: , but seriously george town is great for shopping. V.i.p. is a good club to. there are so many monuments and musems in dc to see its crazy. for night life geroge town and the clubs around there are are good from what i hear. during the day the mall is good so is any of the mususems like mentioned. i will ask my bro later he goes into dc alot to do stuff and i will post again. for now that about all i can think of. do u wanna stay in the city or will you be going to palces around the city to?

Go to 8th and I if you want to see some cool Marine Corps drill. I don't know if they are doing the sunset parade on Tuesdays yet. Silent drill team does some bad ass drill.

what those dudes said.

g-town is just a fun place to walk around.

at night try adams morgan. it's just crazy how many people are out on thurs/fri/sat nights. Madam's Organ has a funny name. HAHA

Thanks guys. We're driving Sunday night so we can be there sometime before noon on Monday. We won't be leaving til Wed. night. Last time I was in D.C. was 8th grade on a school trip. I have a feeling that this one will be a lot more fun. :) He's definitely wanting to see monuments and all that....first trip to D.C. I am too actually. lol. We were also curious about where good places would be to check out at night.

BTW, I knew that NB was from there. I used to be his biggest fan remember... :wavey:

Exactly. Why else would I try to make it? :p

Then baby you'd love me.

You'll see some tight drill there. Here those hand gaurds pop on the rifle. I remember when I came home from bootcamp I showed my brother how to do inspection arms with his AR-15. Didn't realize my ceiling wasn't high up, since it was 3 months since I was in my room. Get to the part where you put the rifle up to look into the chamber, and bam a hole right into my ceiling.

LOL. Good job. And btw, I'll be the first to admit that I have always loved a man in uniform. ;)

Just a word of caution, though. Whatever you do, stay out of Anacostia. That's the part of town that is on the eastern side of the Anacostia River. If you see signs that say Anacostia - Next Exit, turn around and go in the opposite direction.

Other than that, the city is awesome. Also, check out Union Station. Great building, and some good shops. Eat at Capitol City Brewing Company that is across the street at the Old Post Office. Good food and GREAT BEER!

Georgetown is cool too. Lot's of standard chain stores, with a mix of funky local shops. Hike down to the Potomac Waterfront. More cool restaurants. Or take in the Dumbarton Mansion. It's supposed to be incredible.

Sorry for such a long list, but I love this town. DC Rules!

First of all if you do find yourself in the seedier parts of South East, don't freak out. Just be cool and find your way out. It's not like an army of jungle bunnies are going to jump out from behind a tree and start spraying your car with AKs.

Second of all if you want REALLY good beer you have to do Gordon Biersch and John Harvard's. Cap City is OK but if you're a real beer enthusiast you have to hit the other two. IMO the best beer in DC hands down is Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen but unfortunately they only brew it in late spring because it's a summer beer. You'll still be abel to find good beers at the two places I mentioned.

John Harvard's has hilarious decorations that look traditional until you look closer. They have a stained glass window of J.F.K. as a saint! LOL

dont forget cool places like the red maple, sonar, etc... depends on what you want. all the museums. spy museum. arlington cemetary.
