LOL - hmm, I was an art major.

I had to decide between comp sci and art. either one would require all of my time spent in either the labs or the studios in order to get A's - I wanted to go into special effects, so I did art.

but now pretty much all I do is comp sci.

it is huge here in Cambridge, but coming straight out of school wouldn't put you at the high end pay range (which here would be over $100K a year). probably more like $50K I'd guess.

the problem with looking at industries as being "hot" and using that to deciding on what to study on - by the time you are out of school, there are going to be others that have done the same, flooded the market, and lowered the salaries.
not to mention there will be something else that is "hot"

so for the most part - do what you love

HS is dead-on.
When I was in college, Business Communications was where it was at.

Had I studied that, I'd be some MBA toting propagandist who nets less than the total interest on his credit cards. And working in a dead field.

Now I'm in a dead field anyway, so it's kinda moot.

My first major was graphic arts. But I switched majors and schools entirely because everyone at risd was an angsty goth.
