I have had a couple of them and some were worse than the others. It heals right away and it depends on the doctor on what meds you get but usually like 10 pain pills.

Cool. I've heard horror stories of how bad they can be. I have an appointment today to schedule an appointment for it. I just want to knock it out and move on.

They usually aren't that bad but make sure the dentist will give you some meds for pain before he starts. I had one that wouldn't give me anything for pain after and I wanted to kick his ass!!

i had one last month and it was pretty much a breeze even though the tooth was jacked up from getting broke. it took under a hour to do and even though they prescribed painkillers i never did take one. I have to go back now to get a cap put on the tooth at the end of august and that is the longer part.

Hey AV... root canals are not as bad as some people say. I have no "real" molars left from grinding and a life of martial arts... more than half my teeth have been canaled and capped or even repalced with posts. They have improved the local anestetics to the point that the most painful part is the injection. Especiallyw ehn they go into the palate and after they open the tooth and shoot right into the nerve.

Afterwards, they give you vicodin but I find that advil is plenty.

yes I've had one done.
they inject you with something that will make ur entire mouth numb and you wont feel a thing.
It usually happens in 3 phases. Day I, they empty the tooth, day II, they take out the nerves, and day three they fill it up and close it. At least thats what they did with me. You dnt feel a thing.

thats how i had one done about 8 years ago. i hate going to the dentist and I have 100% dental coverage for the first 3k.

ahhh root canals dont hurt bro .. i got 2 off them .. unless they fuck up a nerve .. its getting wisdom teeth pulled that fuking hurts yikes!

I don't need a root canal just yet. I have one tooth I smacked when I was 17...a long time ago. It is slightly discolored but doesn't bother me. The doc told me to use Crest whitening strips on only that tooth and see what it does. If it doesn't clear up then I get the root canal.

The chick who cleaned my teeth did an outstanding job. They now have X-ray machines in every room too. She used some sandblasting thingy too.

I got delayed 3 weeks due to a fuck up on my part, so root canal for me come the end of the month. "Fortunately" I'm told the nerve has died in the tooth so should be relatively straight forward.

Ive had over half dozen root canals and crowns put on. Its not a big deal. Once they inject you with the novacaine, you cant really feel anything. No biggie. they remove the root and the nerve
and once that's done, youre golden. then they put in a metal post so they can put a crown on the tooth.
i always had really bad abcesses in my teeth which is what required the root canal, so having them go in and drill out the yucky root was always a relief to me and made me feel much better. the tooth area is a bit sore for a few days after but you shouldnt need any special pain meds, although some dentists may prescribe something. advil has worked for me in the past.

I had one, did not hurt at all... No pain meds needed, uless you let your tooth absess, then you are funked!

I didn't really consider it painful. I just get frustrated being in the chair that long.
