I have my first appt in a week and half. I am hoping it will do what they say it can for breaking up scar tissue and helping with tendinitus and flexibility. I am also hoping it will help my lower back so I can squat with better form.

I have and it hurts like Sh*&.You really feel it within 24 hours. I am going to stick with the Swedish Massage

go have an asian girl with talented feet walk up and down you. The one I got, the girl would slid slowly off to the sides with her feet..........it was incredible how deep of a massage it was. And then I got my bag whacked................all in all a very pleasing experience..... :)

I have but from what you describe I think you'll need 2-5 sessions.

might want to see an ART guy - active release technique. ive had a handful of deep tissue and it is not nearly the same as the ART ive had done.

ART will break up scar tissue and is unbelievable painful but once the endorphins release it feels good in a weird way. i have had both elbows and my shoulder done. they can do any bodypart. i watched a few sessions on the calf and hamstrings, guys were trying to crawl off the table.

it works.

Every Monday at 5. There is nothing enjoyable about it, and you will feel like you have the flu the next day. Do not plan on training the day following.

I was getting them once every other week for a few years. They make you feel great! :)

Good for you for getting the work done, but educate yourself a bit too before you go in. Drink a decent amount of water before you go in and a TON after the massage.
Deep Tissue can and release a lot of toxins into your system. If you are not properly hydrated your lymphatic system will not properly flush this crud out of your system. And you will be twice as sore and feel flu like symptoms.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT be shy to tell the therapist that they are too deep or are using too much pressure. If you bruise the muscle too badly, this is counter productive and will only slow down your therapy. Don't get me wrong, you will probaly be bruised here and there, but you don't want to feel like you were hit by a truck the next day.

And finally, stretch pretty good for a couple of days. Before and after the massage.

Other than that, good luck with your massage and I hope that it's an enjoyable experience for you.
