i had a bad reaction to scopalamine (sea-sick patch) a few years ago. . .fucked up my seratonin reuptake. . .walked aorund feeling like a zombie for a couple of weeks. . .doc put me on paxil cr for a couple weeks. . .straightened me right back out. . .the only "side" i noticed was that, after i was on it for a couple of days, i could bang for like an hour without nutting, unless i wanted too. . .it was actually kinda cool

pros- felt better about myself, reduced anxiety, stayed out of trouble.
cons- killed my winky, always tired, hated my shrink
she thought I was a "druggie" cause I told her I smoked pot in high school
therefore she was concerned to give me what I actually needed IE benzos
I found a real doctor that cares

I've never been on them but my wife was put on Paxil for anxiety. Made her apathetic about everything and she couldn't nut. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.
She eventually alleviated her symptoms through regular exercise (which clinically is just as effective as anti-D's if you can wait 4 weeks for results). Others report relief though trancendental meditation.
I personally think doctors are way to quick to prescribe these things today. It's one thing if you have a sigficant tragedy to deal with in the short term or if you have a serious chemical imbalance, but often times you're just exchanging one set of symptoms for another.

Only time I have had depression was after the end of my two serious relationships I have been in. After six months I feel better though so no need to take the drugs. Actual depression sounds scary, although I agree that probably a fraction of the people with it actually have it.

mom does. dad hates drugs and most doctors.
i believe doctors overprescribe shit, especially adhd drugs and amphetamines. christ, all my college friends are going to shrinks complaining about not being able to study just to get addies. never tried any pills. never would either. its just a road i choose not to go down.

I use these products personally for other reasons, never knew that they would impact my life in such a positive fashion for how they affected my brain function and mood health.
