Anyone else have a friend that is a hermit?

I have this friend that i have known for like 8 years. He always was into video games and was a little shy around people when we were younger. Now hes 22 years old . All he wants to do is sit and play video games. I have got him out to a bar like 3 times. first time we went for 15 minutes, he didnt even drink 1/4 of the beer i bought him and then he said he wanted to leave. Another time he got kinda drunk and seemed like he had fun.

I dont know what to do about this guy. Last night there was a bunch of girls that wanted to meet at a bar. So i ask him if hes goin and he pulls "im sick, i dont want to be coughing all over everyone" Then he just tried to make jokes and laughs it off. I try to tell this guy he is 22 frickin years old, in his prime. I dont know what to do about this guy.

Anyone else have a friend like this?

Yeah man thats one idea. I dont know if he has scored yet or not. He has mentioned it but i thought it was prob so he wouldnt be the last one. I just cant figure him out, i have had anxiety and social problems in the past but i worked though most of them. So i know what he is going through if that is why he wont get out. Its still no reason for playing those weird ass games all the time. Games like everquest. Now if it was gran turismo or somethin i would prob be there with him. LOL.

Maybe he just has not direction right now. Games are his addiction and escape.... maybe he just really needs to stop playing those games and he will be fine.

I have a buddy thats 26, hasnt had a job and has been living at home since HS. He probably leaves his house once every three weeks, but he is still in tuned to whats going on and can carry an intelligent conversation.

I suspect some weird underlying fear from when he got jumped in HS. He is hispanic, and his whole family lives togather. He says he works for his dad but he never actually does, he just smokes weed and chills on his PC all the time. Its funny, he wont go to the mall until he is "huge". I think he is intimidated by the world around him

In all seriousness he sounds kind of like me. I have been diagnosed with social anxiety. However, I don't have any problems leaving the house. Some people have agoraphobia with their anxiety. Sounds like that could be his case. I usually don't have any problems with going to clubs or anything in a group but I get crazy nervous in one to one social situations. Needless to say, I don't have much luck with women. On occasion a girl will think I have a nice physique and will hit me in the head with a club and drag me back to her cave for sex. Those are the only times I get laid.
