Anyone else find it ironic...

That there is a decent chance conservatives will do well this November and possibly even in 2012?

I don't particularly like her style and I'm far from a social conservative, but the irony of President Palin having a truckload of new power courtesy of Barry, Nancy and Harry just seems hilarious to me.

Think about it: massively powerful & obscure healthcare, financial reform, deem-and-pass precedents, reconciliation precedents, recess appointment precedents, supreme court nominee precidents... In a wierd way, it would be justice served.

:)

No way palin wins dick in 2012

But you gotta admit it would be funny.

President Palin announces you can get an abortion under Obamacare, but only after 8,235 hours of Christian counseling and 45 signatures from Palin-approved physicians.

she'll get an appointment.. but that's all

I'm thinking a recess appointment as head of HHS, SEC or Homeland Security. Or maybe that new consumer protection agency -- she can protect us all!

bleeding heart liberals are like children...and conservatism is like discipline...and, even though most children rail against discipline, the truth is that they want, need, and demand discipline and structure in their lives, and they are better citizens for having it...particularly in times of great distress...so, am i surprised at the quick swing back toward conservatism? no, not even a little bit.

I liked your previous comment about power unchecked. It's like when the right granted wiretapping abilities and the left abused it. Sure, it started out as a good idea with a good intention; but then like most things in politics (or P3's butt) -- it gets abused.

Now see! That's the kind of attitude the conservative leaders will like. I'm guessing you're death-panel exempt starting in 2013 Obamacare now.

not a chance she gets elected in 2012, but the dems are screwed...

palin is a fuckin looney whack job
McCain had a shot until he saddled himself with her.......fuckin whack job.....

Discipline? That's a laugh, considering that Bush spent like a drunken sailor.

I wouldn't get to smug about a supposed "quick swing back toward conservatism" until November is over and done with. Just because poll numbers look poor for Obama and the Tea Baggers have been making a lot of noise, doesn't mean there's a trend. I imagine there'll be surprises and disappointments aplenty for both sides in the election.

Your sig rules.

Barry wasted more in a single, wasteful bill labeled as "Stimulus" than Bush did on the entire Iraq war.

I miss Bush deficits.

LOL at you being a "bleeding heart liberal"...you old fucking curmudgeon...no way you're sitting around pining for some fucking eutopia that you know gawddamn well is never going to exist...call it what ever you like...all i know is that, all the fucking whining-ass liberals go running for their fucking mommy (i.e., the conservatives) every time the going gets tough...and this is not a dems vs reps issue...it's a "poo-poo, kissy-kissy, we're all brothers, let's take care of every fucking piece of shit that doesn't want to get off their fucking porch and pull their own weight" movement -vs- a "you want more from me??? go fuck yourself!" movement...and i'm on the "go fuck yourself" side.

oh and, wtf makes you think i was talking about george-fucking-halliburton?? but, since you invoked his name, you know that he gave more tax breaks to the working man than ANY president in history, right?? yeah...i know...cnn didn't tell you about that, but it's true...i can prove it to you if you like...i've done enough fucking tax seminars over the last 20 years.

Too bad there weren't any spending cuts to go along with those tax cuts.

i never accused the man of being a conservative...or of being intelligent...he was a c student in the ivy league for chrissakes...do you know how uncommon that is??? i mean jeezuz...in the ivy league, if your parents pay your tuition you get a c...it's like the 200 points you get on the s-a-t for signing your name.

But you'd vote for Palin over Obama?

on the subject of voting

know what I love more than people that vote with pure emotion? and or just voting for their party with no regard to the actual candidate?
people that dont vote at all then bitch constantly about politics

Guess who said the following quotes:
1. “To my amazement, I was besieged with questions about my sex life. At first I thought this was just a passing joke, but I was wrong. It became the dominant news story of my candidacy, and my popularity dropped precipitously. Any attempt to explain the Christian theology behind my answer only served to keep the issue alive.”
2. “I have an absolute, total commitment as a human being, as an American, as a religious person to Israel … Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.”
3. “Feeling a bit presumptuous, I wrote to [an evolutionary scientist] diasagreeing with this premise and asserting that there were factors other than pure happenstance that influenced the course of evolution.”
4. “Because I’m just human and I’m tempted and Christ set some almost impossible standards for us. The Bible says, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery.’ Christ said, ‘I tell you that anyone who looks on a woman with lust has in his heart already committed adultery.’ I’ve looked on a lot of women with lust. I’ve committed adultery in my heart many times…. This is something that God recognizes, that I will do and have done, and God forgives me for it. But that doesn’t mean that I condemn someone who not only looks on a woman with lust but who leaves his wife and shacks up with somebody out of wedlock. Christ says, don’t consider yourself better than someone else because one guy screws a whole bunch of women while the other guy is loyal to his wife. The guy who’s loyal to his wife ought not to be condescending or proud because of the relative degree of sinfulness.”
5. “This set of principles, rooted in my Christian faith, has both shaped me and been shaped by my personal experiences, and it remains to this day a central element of my identity.”
6. (Quote from someone commenting about the candidate running for office) “It is not presumptuous to say, as there is enough evidence already, that a vast number of [this candidate's] supporters consist of aggressive evangelicals whose main goal is to ‘Christianize’ our country; that is to say, to convert Americans to a particular brand of religious obscurantism. Needless to say, most, or many [this candidate]-fundamentalists despise complete intellectual and religious liberty.”
7. “Being born again is a new life, not of perfection but of striving, stretching, and searching — a life of intimacy with God through the Holy Spirit.”
8. “But if we aspire to grow as human beings, we should struggle to close the gap by making our inner selves truer reflections of our own highest values, which, for me, grow from my Christian faith.”
9. “…There are basic principles that, for me, have never changed. For a Christian, the life and teachings of Jesus offer a sound moral foundation that includes all the most basic elements that should guide us.”
10. “Yes, I have my personal beliefs, and these questions come from statements I made over fifteen years ago. I was in my twenties, and very excited and passionate about my new-found faith. But I assure you my faith has matured, and when I go to Washington, D.C., it’ll be the Constitution on which I base all of my decisions, not my personal beliefs.”

In every midterm election since Eisenhower the incumbent party has lost seats regardless of the general point of view of the country towards either major party. The real issue with this election is how many 3 way races will impact the GOP and reduce the amount of seats they might gain given a 2 way race.

DB - shrub quotes.

LOL @ anyone thinking anything related to Palin is funny or ironical.

Palin - dog whistle for idiots.

What I find ironic is that this supposed "Tea Party" is nothing new at all, just the same old Neo-Cons and Religious Right in a different wrapper. Old wine, new bottle. BFD. A lot of noise over nothing. Except it seems even more dumbed-down than the OG GOP.

Or perhaps the real irony is an Athiest who supports the Religious Right, and who thinks that religion is a good way to mollify the masses. There's elitism for you.

Yeah, just keep ignoring the tea party. And I'm sure the November elections will be no big deal either.

And an atheist who supports religion is simply someone who understands evolution. I love watching libtards cling to the theory of evolution like a Christian clings to a Bible. But then that same atheist assumes we're going to undo 200,000 years of evolution with an overnight reading of The God Delusion.

But you'd vote for Palin over Obama?

oh GOD no...she's frighteningly st00pid! but, i prolly would vote for romney over obama...a successful, conservative, businessman...and, no, i don't give a rat's ass about his religion (or obama's for that matter).

yeah, I was kind of sucked in by romney and I generally only vote repub locally

No one said anything about ignoring the Tea Party. They're clearly making a lot of noise, and may indeed wield some temporary influence. But it's a sham. There's nothing new about the candidates they support. Rand Paul is the same old academic Libertarian, and all the rest are the usual old batch of Gingrich republicans.

I wouldn't get too smug about November just yet.

So you've come up with a figure of 200,000 for the emergence of your supposed Religion Gene? Excellent, I guess you'll be reporting that to the human paleontology convention?

You're just angry the libtard strategy is running the country into a bigger ditch than Reagan/Bush ever could have.

I miss Bush deficits.

How is the present economic strategy any different from what was initiated in the previous administration?

Both sides spend shittons of money, both sides enact assinine laws. Which people they piss off in the process of the whole sham is the only difference.

It's like they took all of Bush's worst ideas, doubled-down on them, then threw-in a terrible healthcare takover and a tax increase.

And c'mon. You've got to admit it's funny being lectured to about what's good for the US health system by a smoker.

And what's up with the "We will extend your hand if you are willing to unclench your fist" stuff? Barry has increased the domestic surveillance program, increased drone attacks and surged troops in Afghanistan. Yet libtards cling to him like Christians cling to their Bibles. What's up with that?

Barry is just an even worse version of Bush.

At least he's not clinically insane like McCain or clinically retarded like Palin.

Today's UN speeches were priceless:

Barry: "the door remains open to diplomacy should Iran choose to walk through it."

A few hours later, Ahmadinejad says: "Some segments within the US government orchestrated the [911] attack," and were because of "the declining American economy and its scripts on the Middle East in order to save the Zionist regime. The majority of the American people, as well as most nations and politicians around the world, agree with this view."

How's that outreached hand working for you Barry? Counting your campaign stump time, you've been at it for 2.5 years now.

I suppose you'd prefer we overextend our military into yet another war that we can't afford?

I suppose you'd prefer we overextend our military into yet another war that we can't afford?

No way! We need to make sure we have a nuclear middle east.

Or we could just quit giving Israel a hard time and let them bomb the hell out of the Iranian facilities.

At least he's not clinically insane like McCain or clinically retarded like Palin.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Based on Angle and Delaware candidate, you certainly do have to be insane and retarded to fit in the teabagger party.

Looks like Greene won't end up being the most embarassing candidate of the election cycle this year.

So since Chamberlain was wrong, the only other alternative is perpetual war? Ahmadinejad is the next Hitler?

If Israel wants to be proactive, we should let them do it. It's not like Ahmadinejad is going to hate them (or us) any more.

lol @ people being afraid of Iran.

I for one am glad a rogue state is getting nukes. Two wars we are in just isnt enough to keep me on my toes.

If someone could reasonably explain to me why we should be concerned about a nation with one of the most pro-western populations in the middle east I'd be happy to listen.

And no, "OMG theyll have NOOKS! and they hate joos!" doesnt count.

People here can't tell the difference between the Iranian populace, the real Iranian leadership (Ayatollas), and the noisy figurehead (Ahmadinejad).

The PEOPLE of Iran are mostly rather moderate.

The younger generation there is not a problem at all.

It's the minority, older religious nuts that will create the problems. Time is on our side, but a wait-it-out strategy could last for decades. People always estimate the staying power of these nutjobs (Castro, Kim Jong Il, etc. etc.).

It's not like Iran is going to develop nukes and formally declare war either. They'll do what they already do (i.e. funding the insurgency in Afghanistan, placing $1,000 bounties on US servicemen) but they'll do it on a nuclear scale. If they could proliferate a dirty bomb to Al Queda, you can rest assured they would.

A dirty bomb doesn't require nuclear capabilities, just access to some waste.

A dirty bomb doesn't require nuclear capabilities, just access to some waste.

And the best way to get the good 1,000 to 10,000 year half-life waste is to split some atoms.

Thallium 201 (the medical imaging stuff) isn't very dangerous to anyone. You can wait a week and the show is over.

then what would you say, pol pot??

sorry...i'm a wise ass...plus, i almost pissed my pants when jackangel called you pol pot...that's just sooooo wrong...but absolutely hilarious...in a really wrong, really politically incorrect sorta way...which, unfortunately plays right into my fucked up sense of humor. :sulk:

Doing anything other than waiting it out and letting them sort their own problems out will surely result in us alienating the moderates there. Especially if we start killing them.

We don't need to kill Iranian civilians.

Israel needs to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities.

Huge difference.
