anyone else feel a bit nervous ordering things off the net?

just ordered some wrist wraps (not straps), and I always feel a bit coy about giving my card details out over the net, anyone ever had a bad experience?

I buy everything off the net. The UPS guy is my best friend. lol Once I took the plunge, I said "Fuck it." I just bought a $1600 TV online.

what I may do is setup a seperate account with only a limited supply of cash in it so if anyone does decide to try and rip me off there is only limited resources for them to have.

probably more secure than handing someone your credit card in a store......where there is a most likely a printed paper receipt with your credit card number on it right there in the register......

of course, i would only order on the net from reputable businesses.

Good idea........

LOL...

it's not any riskier than buying something from a local store.

Only advice is use a credit card and not your debit card....

if someone steals from your credit card... that's your credit card companies problem... if they steal from your debit card they are stealing your money... at the very least they are going to cause you alot of problems...

exactly. I'm not worried in the least because my credit card company will pay the bill if something goes wrong

I haven't ever been worried about someone else getting my CC info, especially not online.

I have the "that would never happen to me" attitude.

I've never had a problem and I usually order things at least once a week...and have for years. I'm honestly tempted to start grocery shopping over the net too and having it delivered. I'm almost never home. It's awesome to order stuff and have it shipped to my office. Then I'm always there to sign for it. I only order from secure sites and haven't ahd a problem.

Plus with protein and supps, I end up paying less than half of what I would going to any of the nutrition stores in my area.

I've never had any problems. Get a credit card with a virtual account number. The number changes each time so a merchant can only charge to it once.

my debit card is insured by visa up to 10,000 dollars. so are alot of other debit cards, if it doesn't say visa on it tho maybe u should be worried?

Yeah... most debit cards are insured now... still I use the credit card...

fraud on the credit card only temoparily ups my balance... fraud on a debit card lowers the amount of cash available to me until I get things cleared up...

my cc details are probably on 9,000 databases across the world. If someone wanted to scam it -- there's not much i can do. Let alone anything i can do on my side (like those "feel good" options like "secure ordering", "unique passwords", blah blah -- like it'll ever thwart anyone).

Honestly, i'd be more worried about real-life scamming, by like cashiers, or someone lifting my wallet and going on a shopping spree.

You're more likely to get ripped off through your mailbox. Thats what happened to me. Some fuck steals your mail, gets your info, then tries to get a credit card, computer from Dell, and so on.

Nope, not at all.

1) Citibank offers a random number generator for online purchases. It gives a "generated" number, that is good till the end of the month, then it expires.

2) I am not responsible for unauthorized charges.

3) No worries.

Tips:

1) Never EVER use a debit card online.
2) Never give your CC number through email.
3) Make sure that site is secured(Lock Icon at bottom right od the screen.

Good luck!
