my little brother (24) has been training heavy close to a year to get ready for SEAL camp..(he's been lifting, athletic all his life)..he does not work...just runs, lifts, and swims (living off some inheritance and college graduation money)..i need to show ya'll some pics....incredibly diesel....i watched him do 40 wide grip chins (all the way down) the other day no problem....he is totally natural....he is having trouble with the 300 (or is it 500) yard swim..missing it by 18 sec right now....he is studying like crazy for the officer's tests as well...he's no genius, but his work ethic is incredible...i have so much respect for him....first i'd like to see if anybody has any comments on his chances...or if anyone has some intimate knowledge of what he is getting himself into (officer vs. enlisted life).. second, i'd like everybody to wish his crazy ass good luck....

If memory serves, Tiny Buck has signed up and will be going through training soon. Might shoot him a PM.

Wish i could help but i don't know how. I don't see why someone with that much dedication & desire to succeed would choose to not use anabolic steroids.

I know matttheskywalker was in the Rangers, he might have some info on special ops. organizations.

oh shit yeah, big buck is out in diego....

about the juice...he won't even take creatine...he is under the impression that they test for it...

what i wouldn't give to put this kid on some eq, winny, and fina....i can honestly say that even with a few cycles under my belt, my lil bro has always looked better than me....he is just freakin ripped, much better genetics...of course while i was smoking hella weed in high school and most of college, he was in europe doing cup soccer and other shenanigans...

anybody know what the AS testing scene is like in the Navy?...

I know two people who tried and one was a Marine the other tried straight out of high school I think. They both talked a lot of shit but didn't make it. I knew they weren't going to make it because they weren't mentally tough. That's 90% of it. You have to be hard as titanium upstairs.

thats exactly it,to suceed you must be mentally tough and wont give up,.and from how u describe your brother he should do fine

This is an area of interest and upset to me...

Right off the SEAL website:

This is a standardized test, so ensure that you do NOT rearrange the exercises.

500 yard swim using breast and/or sidestroke in 12.5 minutes

10 minute rest

Perform a minimum of 42 push-ups in 2 minutes

2 minute rest

Perform a minimum of 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes

2 minute rest

Perform a minimum of 6 pull-ups (there is no time limit)

10 minute rest

Run 1.5 miles wearing boots and long pants in 11.5 minutes

All that shit above is a joke. Plain and simple. I'm 25 now, do no cardio, and can meet all the above criteria.

In high school I swam in state the 500 yard in 5 min 23 seconds... 3rd in the state. Even now I could do 500 yard's on my back.

I can do 42 pushup's without stopping.

50 sit-ups in 2 minutes is a joke.

6 pull ups without a time limit is also laughable.

1.5 miles in 11.5 minutes... a school girl can do that.

These #'s aren't an incredible figure to reach... it's just that the minimum requirement to become a basic squid or marine is incredibly low. Also laughable.

The problem I had... also taken right off the website...

Your eyesight may be no worse than 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other, and it must be correctable to 20/20 with no color blindness.

The last part of that gets me. There ain't shit I can do about being a color blinded motherfucker... and there is no tricking them into thinking otherwise. I suppose it would be pretty dangerous if I was out there and they told me to cut the green wire, and I cut the red one instead... but still... this bothered me for years... and obviously, it still kind of does.

Granted, these are just the basic requirements to get into the SEAL hell week... but, it's obvious with the #'s above, that you aren't going to get into hell week and all of a sudden have to turn green in order to make it.

It sounds like your brother shouldn't have a problem with it. Rather then practicing swimming so much... if I were him, I'd sit in a bathtub filled with ice water... as that is where a lot of people get hypothermic and get the boot.

Wish him the best.

crazier-

That shit is easy but hell week is going to be torture. i think it is 24/7 physical exercise for 5 days straight, 4 hours sleep total.

Also, there was a good documentary on the discovery channel called 'Navy SEALs Training:BUDs class 234' a few days ago. People were running & swimming 14 hours a day while they had pneumonia, getting stress fractures, running 4 miles in under 32 minutes & passing out all the time.

Oh absolutely my friend...

Don't get me wrong.

I read many books about Hell Week... fucking grueling.

The cold, and lack of sleep seems like the biggest bitch too many people. I mean, if you get hypothermia, they kick you the fuck out... not much you can do about that, ya know???

I was saying to try out for Hell Week, the requirements are laughable... and after seeing those #'s, it's easy to understand why such a ridiculous low number... like 5-8% ?? make it through the week.

I wish there was a Hell Week just for people that wanted to give it a go... without the next 4 years of service.

I'd do it no question.

I know a lot of my friends that went into the Marine's bootcamp... supposed to be 'the hardest of em all' and the shit was a joke...

Even to my fat friend that had to wait an extra 2 weeks to drop a few pounds... he said the shit was easy.

I tell ya though... went in at 220... came out at 160.

Motherfucker looked like he stayed in Ethiopia for 12 weeks or something. :D :D

I just always had the impression it would be harder to get into the game than it is.

Certainly am not saying I could make it through hell week... but, I would have loved the chance.
