I never sold my account. I used to play mostly on Chesapeake, maybe a tad on Baja, and then I moved to Atlantic to join the guilde EiG, then moved back and finished on Chesapeake because I realized how much I don't like guilds.
I used to play the real PVP character... not one of those lameasses who run around blue and only attack red/gray people, or one of those guys with the 7x GM dread lord and 10 different mules to go to town for them. Had my little house, my key, only had enough spellcasting and reagents for recall, and never had to go to town because I never bought shit from town. Made the game much funner for me, and I had a couple of miners who paid me for "protection" by "donating" some platemail whenever I needed. =)
Whenever my character happened to get enough notoriety to go near town, I used to steal runes and house keys like crazy. I must have legitimately, single-handedly looted over 15 houses in 1-2 weeks time. The best one was this 2-story where this guy had a recall rune for his house and 2 pairs of keys (dumbass!). I stole the rune but he noticed because he had his backpack open and he had just started casting recall. He attacked me, I kicked his ass, and then while he was running I tried to deceive him and was like: "thanks for the key as well!" He must have only looked in one of his sub-bags because he immediately recalled to his house (where I was patiently waiting next to the door.
Stole one of his keys before he could open the door with the other, killed him, and ran inside and started looting like crazy. Took a ton of reagents, arrows, healing potions, etc... his little newbie friends showed up but they were attacks were so disorganized that I was able to one-on-one or two-on-one all of them and they would all run off when they lost a bit of energy. I managed to clean the place out of everything useful, duplicate the key, leave it in my house, and recall back for a suicide to make them think that they had gotten the key back. They must have been pretty surprised to go back to the house 2 weeks later and find it completely empty except for a table with a book on top reading:
"Duh.

I loved that game. I have more stories about that game than a grandpa has for his grandkids about "the war."
