Anybody else here that doesnt drink alcohol, smoke or do drugs?

Plornive, ok, lets make this an intelligent discussion. I am not trying to prove to the guy that drugs are bad. There are nationwide campaigns specifically designed just to do that. I was simply stating my own opinion, because I believe in clean, and healthy way of living. I grew up on the fields where drugs were not even heard of, with clean air and lots of wholesome food. Old people would live until their 80's there, and be as healthy as a 40 year olds. Now that I got this out of my way, BeefyBull post employed a self-defensive tactic to justify his habit to himself. It is a very common tactic of self denial among drug addicts, depressed people and those who are nearing death (remember the 5 steps?). I throw around opinions all over the place on this board, knowing that this post will disappear with people not even giving a second thought to it. Besides, even if I tried to raise an issue, there would be a huge debate between drug addicts.... I mean advocates... and me, which would ultimately would lead to fruitless result.. with everyone staying with the opinions they had started with.

Ok, we're cool. Many people make blanket statements. It just seems to hit home when it is about something I value. I have tried many drugs and used two extensively. I would agree that many, if not most, of the recreational drugs out there can cause brain damage and psychiatric/psychological problems. But I think, with knowledge, they can be used with no appreciable harm (especially marijuana). I also agree that to avoid health problems as completely as possible, it is best to not use any recreational drugs and to eat only natural, whole foods. It is also probably safer to not use steroids (not that you use steroids).

Similar to how I want my body to be enhanced, I also sometimes want my mind to be enhanced. I like to smoke marijuana to reduce stress on Saturday nights after working countless hours and going to the gym. I have used meth to enhance my working ability temporarily. Was I addicted? In a way, but I easily quit when I chose, and have not used it since.

So, if you think I am addicted, let me know. I would say I am somewhat dependent on drugs in general, since my consciousness is aware of the potential and availability of drugs. But I don't think I am in denial when I say that marijuana and meth have actually helped me.

Bro, I believe that people should do whatever to make them happy. My best friend and training partner had used everything in a 2 year period after his girlfriend dumped him. He is 5'5, 190 lbs, 5% bodyfat with a 3.9 GPA in school, with incredible mind. He uses drugs to open himself up, to break through boredom, and to enjoy himself. Never once did I critique him, except in teh cases when I thought it was too much that he was going to overdose. Hell, I am considering a steroid cycle, which makes me a hypocrit. We are living in a modern society, and the only reason the people in suburban places in eastern Europe didn't use drugs is because of its inability and inaccesibility (lol)!. Sometimes I even feel jealous of the accounts of people telling me how their mind opens up on E and K, and I really wish I could be in the position they are in, because frankly, real life is pretty boring. Yet it is just a personal choice, though you may think it is biased and ignorant, and so do I sometimes.

I owe a very large part of my reputation as a nice, laid back bouncer to the use of amphetamines (Adderall) and Wellbutrin.

If I wasn't on Wellbutrin right now, I probably would have responded to Revex's post in a much more aggressive fashion even though he actually seems like a cool character most of the time.

Casavant, do you think you will stay on those anti-depressents your entire life? I mean you will have to get off them one day.. what then?

sorry to hear that bro. Always sucks to depend on aids like that :(

Trust me, I've thought about that. If it don't cause any kind of ill effects, I could see myself staying on it for years and years. I'll probably be on them as long as I can. For better or worse, I think I'll always be on something.

the thing is, since most of these drugs are pretty new, nobody knows the long term effects.

Casavant great post. I agree on many points, specifically on releasing the tension (theorized by Sigmund Freud with his vacuum theory). I will discuss this with you in more detail after today's deadlifts my bro.
