Anybody a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep?

Then the first rule of thumb, don't refer to it as a sales job with a Fortune 500 Company. Walmart is also a Fortune 500 Company. :)

I'm just messing with ya, boo. I figured a fish over the head, sure, but such sensitivity.......??
Haha true they are #1. Must be all this training they are brain washing me when they say it I am like dam that sounds impressive then I here that and I am like WTF it ain't that impressive. It is not just a sales job they give me a big fancy title but I think the title is :rainbow:

I save fishing for more offensive posts. :qt: I think I maybe pmsing hence my senstivity ;)

I used to do desktop support for Wyeth-Ayerst. Many of them didn't have bio degrees. Hell, I've worked with stockbrokers that had degrees in English and Bilical Studies.

you need a degree to get ya in the door....everyone wants a pharm. sales job, so chances are, it will come from within the company. and sales is all personality, not a piece of paper(your degree)

Being a drug rep is a decent gig. Get to take doctors out for dinner meetings, hold meetings in luxury boxes at sporting events...lotsa perks. QT is right tho...most every drug rep in canada has a bachelor's degree in science at least.

Highly competetive to get a job in pharma sales and its the worst job ever at least in my area. They are a huge annoyance to every doctor that Ive worked in clinic with and they just stand in the hallways waiting for a signature after they restock samples and try to engage in conversations with people who are far too busy to hear it. The receptionists dont like them and many large practices are outright banning them from coming in in my area. Im sure some areas are better than others but I can only speak from my interaction with them and I was really close to one girl and her job was driving in traffic everyday from clinic to clinic. She said she liked it but I know that she was getting burnt out of it fast. Have a backup plan, she competed with hundreds for her position.

well mu cousin is one and she brings in the cash. she just has a business degree.
but she did have some sales in her background. they giver her clothing allowance and work vehicle plus they pay the gas for it. I would say perks where High.
and she is very pretty. Also most of her coworkers are pretty hot as well :) ;)
and she lovers her 300,000 dollar home. will an added 40 acres..

I can’t wait to finish school so I can finally bring in some cash.

They only seem to hire beautiful girls and I simply cannot see someone that hasnt at least had organic chemistry and alot of physiology classes able to discuss with a physician the mechanism of action on any serious level but I guess that doesnt matter b/c nearly all physicians dont talk to them and the money is only 50k to start and thats in a huge metro area.

You don't even need a degree period. It's all about personality and/or who you know. I had one client who was a pharm rep for Pfizer. Poor bastard had high school and a minor in .... theology. Yes THEOLOGY ! He was making well over 150k$ a year.

depends on the product youre pushing imo. some products are straightforward substitutions or generics, and so anybody with a bit of personality can pull it off. other products/drugs have some specialised use, or some subtle difference to the established product and so need some understanding

pharmacists usually make good reps, but as per examples above, anybody can do it
