I wanna extend my musical abilities beyond shredding on a minor. I wanna learn how to write rap/dance songs, tracks, remixes, beats.

You know, drums, bassline, keyboard, etc. Kinda stuff timbaland woudl use to write a song.

I bought a learning keyboard software. I gotta get off my butt and learn it.

Oh btw: I have fl studio, acid, reason. I just haven't had time to learn them. Not sure which one to focus on.

I'm pretty maxed out on the guitar. No money in it unless you're like playing in kiss. I wanna expand my arsenal of tools in writing music. A lot of my friends are dj's, they are always looking for new tunes.

Guitar-wise, les pauls, deans and schecters. Line 6 guitarport on the computer, line 6 flextone for practice, and stage-wise jcm2000 marshall stack with boss pedals and bbe expander and hush and some other stuff to kick people in the fucking face during a show.

Young L from The Pack uses Reason

a ton of my friends use the free version of fruityloops and ive heard a lot of complaints about the bass.

if reason is good enough for young l it's good enough for you!

So you're turning Gay?

So you're turning Gay?

you see. When you know all this stuff, rap artists, r&b singers, dj's, producers, house/techo, pop singers, you name it, all wanna 'collaborate' with you. I love that word. 'collaborate'. :)

No one 'collaborates' with metal guitarists. hehe. Oh and u get 100x more tail.

What was the question again? Running minors all over the place? Man, that would get boring very fast. I don't really do the metal thing. Metal people are not the only people getting all the "tang" out there by any means LOL. Spend just a little time on theory. Learn the modes to the key that your playing in and form your chord structure from that. Notice they aren't power chords huh.... Yeah, we can get very technical here. Te funny thing is, why am I talking guitar theory when I play bass? LOLOL It's as simple as you wish to as technical as you want it to be. Stretch you mind man.

I already know modes, mixolydian, phrygian, blues scale, pentatonic, diatonic, sweeps, progessions, etc. The music industry is HUGE and far bigger than shredding, so I feel limited when others can spend hours talking loops, synths, midi's, remixes, etc. for their house/dj/soul/rap, etc. clients and I have no idea what they're saying. There's huge money if u can write timbaland type songs.

On the bright side - I know vegas, audition, etc. sound engineering really well. That'll come in handy. :)

MIDI is easy and you can trigger stuff from just about anywhere. That is something you should look into. I forget the question now.......

Writing beats is the most rudimentary form of music. Should be easy. All that's really required is an idea of what the latest sounds like, "improvise" it and voila, a hit. Very little skill other than learning the equipment and having a half-way decent imagination.

Yeah, but all keyboard players are gay, unless they have a Hammond and a Wurlitzer.
