I am seriously thinking about getting one. I went out with this guy that has the cutest little black pug puppy and now I want one.
Any pug owners?

I have had my pug since 1997, she was so sweet when she was a baby pug and has been one of the best dogs I have ever had! Especially when she snorts!
His dog loved me those dogs love attention and they seem very well natured. I have some time right now but I am worried when I am getting contest ready I wont have enough time for the dog and that is not fair.

she doesn't shed, I can walk her without a leash, and she doesn't piss all over the place like Stilletos indoor farm animals

Why a female? I also read that they are stubborn to train. I figure as long as I can teach it to not chew up everything and not pee and poop everywhere then I am happy. I want a smaller dog for sure pugs are considered lap dogs. I don't want an utlta hairy dog and I was told the black pugs tend to shed less not sure why.
Yes mine does shed a ton but she is a fawn. Probably because you don't notice the hair because it is darker. They do require a lot of attention. Also cool are french bulldogs!
You have had your for a while any health issues at all? How big did she get? I am reading they only get up to 20-25 lbs which is nice size not tiny but not to big either.
The only health issue is when I accidentally ran her over on mothers day. Had to have her hips chicken wired together other than that she has had no issues... She is about 12 lbs I guess.

Females are more laid back
Males are leg humpers (sometimes)
Males are more prone to pee on alot more

so what's the prob wit getting a female
LOL I don't care about the sex just hard to find a black pug so I might not have a choice about the sex is all. Why do males pee more? I for sure want a female if that is the case. Also they don't seem to bark much? If at all am I right?
The males have a serious issue with peeing so do Yorkies. My x wife thought she was going to bread Yorkies. We had over 10 of them running all over the house. The girls loved it, me not so much. There was piss and shit everywhere. When we put in new carpet they were outside dogs. My pug is not an inside dog either. I can't stand peeing on the floor. Even when my kids do it I still get mad!

I have 2 pugs, an all black female and a fawn male. They are both very laid back and sedentary, great dogs if you have an active lifestyle. They don't need much exercise and love to sleep on your lap while watching TV. They are known to have more health problems than others, but in my opinion all dogs have their flaws.
I am actually a vet tech so I see all kinds of breeds every day and pugs are still my favorite as they just seem so unique and they have great personalities.

I have never actually owned a pet on my own. What are typical cost for vet vists etc to get shots or get the dog fixed? How much do pugs eat?
They eat about the same as a horse budget about $500 per month on dog food!

For puppies they usually are vaccinated every 3 weeks up until they are about 16 weeks. Most places will deworm them each visit and vaccinate each time for distemper. Each visit will most likely run 110- 140 dollars then there is the cost of spaying/ neutering when they are 6 months. That is anywhere from 300- 400 dollars. Preventative medications like heartworm and flea and tick preventative will be about 125 dollars annually.
The 1st year is when you are paying the most for vet stuff like vaccines and spay/neuter. After that it will be about 215 dollars annually baring any unexpected health issues.
I feed my pugs weight management food and they each get 1/2 cup twice per day. A 20 pound bag probably lasts 2 1/2 to 3 months between the 2 of them.
