Any car modder's up in here?

I learned this past week that a local guy (Thai) paid 85 thousand for an '87 Jose Canseco Porsche
I don't feel bad having paid 42,500 for the '87 Clemen's Porsche

I painted my car with racing stripes, stuck on an extra fake twin tail pipe, drilled 10 holes in to my bonnet to keep the engine cool and it goes twice as fast now in half the time

My old ride in 2000
When I first got it, it had the standard Saleen rear bumper with the dual exhaust on far left and right. Then Saleen came out with the S351 with the center exhaust so I ordered the rear for $750 with the center cut out for the exhaust and then the Saleen/Borla modified center exiting pipes for another $700 or so, thats about it...i miss that car

You think if I paint my calipers I'll get better braking performance? :D

93 RX7. Twin turbo setup converted to non-sequential (means both turbos kick in at once to give the feeling of a single turbo setup). Full Greedy exhaust system, downpipe, midpipe, cat.

Less than 1k miles on rebuilt rotary. K&N filters, Supra fuel pump, stage 2 clutch, Greedy turbo timer and boost controller.

I didn't do any of the mods, bought it that way.

I've had it since October but haven't put but about 600 miles on it. Currently for sale to kick start my GT-R savings fund :)

Mazda claimed they were making the 3rd gen RX7's to answer the public's demand for a factory track car. The RX7 and Supra are comapared the most when it comes to measures of Japanese performance cars, with the 300zx tt trailing behind due to it's inability to handle with the other two.

I looked at these cars for years and years before I was finally able to afford one. And some days I'd say to myself " I only want the 300zx tt, that's the one I'm buying when I get the money". Other days I'd say the same about the Supra, then other days I'd be on the RX7's wagon. It just so happens it was a "RX7 day" when I found myself in the financial position to buy something. Of course, a good condition Supra can easily go for twice what I paid for my RX7, so that kinda took it out of the equation for me at the time.

If I decide to hang onto it for awhile, my original plans were to have the 99 bumper put on, get it painted black, have the tan interior changed to all black, have the engine ported, 3mm apex seals, single turbo setup, intercooler upgrade etc. etc.

thx, you should of heard that thing it was a beast

I sold that car and got a 2001 BMW 323Ci in 2001, then got a 2004 X3 and my wife is driving an '07 530i. If I could get any car today it would be the '09 BMW M3. I picked my wifes car up from getting serviced last week and they had about 6 of them on the lot, not one stickered for under 68k, that's retarded, but its so beautiful

Imagine the Japanese factory equivalent of an HKS Supra, and that's the Nissan GT-R.

And imagine that Supra being able to be controlled from the steering wheel, with no clutch pedal, and complete diagnostics available on a screen in the car.....

The GT-R is as good as it gets

the supra hasn't been made in OVER ten years
tech isn't what it is now, but it would be cool

Actually, the Supra was discontinued in '96 I believe, and the 3000GT Vr-4 were discontinued in '99. the 3KGT was the last japanese muscle car.

I read somewhere a couple of years ago where Micheal Strayhan said that out of the Ferraris and Porches and Bentlys and SUVs that he owns, the car he still drives the most is the 93 Supra he bought when he signed his first NFL contract.

That says alot about how great these cars feel and how ahead of their time they were.

Actually his ex-wife probably got all the others. He got a shit divorce settlement.

I've wondered how useful it would be for gas mileage purposes to only have a quarter tank of gas in inventory at the most

imagine 20 gallons of fuel as weight
what's a gallon weigh?
16lbs?

a gallon weighs 8 pounds roughly. having your tank full vs half full would result (in a 20 gallon tank) an 80 lb difference. Fuel mileage would go largely unaffected, but it would make a slight difference, although unnoticable.

1 US gallon is 16 cups
1 cup is 8oz
1lbs is 16oz

16C X 8oz = 128oz
128oz / 16oz = 8lbs/gallon

20 gallons * 8lbs is 160lbs?

not exactly. that is water, not gasoline. gasoline is lighter than water, if I'm not mistaken.

Besides, 8. oz for a cup doesn't mean it weighs 8 ounces, it means it is 8 fluid ounces. there's a difference.

Gas weighs 7 lbs per gallon, not 8lbs. I think for water weight and volume may be one and the same.

oh yeah. i've had tons of modded cars. i can't leae anything stock. i currently have a dodge turbo diesel 5 speed truck, making about 300 hp and 640 lb. ft. lots of room to go still, i just got it a couple months ago.
i have a lexus ls400 , lowered on coilovers, 19" wheels, it's called vipstyle, google it.
ive had 7 mitsubishi turbo's/eagle talon turbos. my first awd talon ran an 11.7x @ 117.xx mph years ago in phoenix. i had a fwd talon that made 368 whp; that was a beast on the freeway.
i had a camaro z28 LS1 6 speed, modded it, ran good but wasn't any faster than my talon which was paid for and easier to work on.
had a galant vr4, built engine, never dynod it or raced it but it was damn fast!
had a jeep grand cherokee overland, lifted, mud tires, LSD's. wheeled the shit out of that thing, did great. i'm about to buy a lifted cherokee now to wheel. i'm kind of out of going fast, off road is more fun.

I bought my '98 new in June 1998
there were five left in the southeast and I knew the owner of the dealership
he traded out a new land cruiser with another dealer to get my supra
and then sold it to me for cost (about 40,000)

doh, the 300ZX and the dodge stealth were '96. Still the 3KGT lasted to '99. I had one in HS, fun cars, a little heavy, but the AWD was nice.

I had a '93 normally aspirated 3000GT
I didn't really care for that car and traded it in for the Supra after I divorced in Feb 1998
I had bought the 3KGT at the same Toyota dealership and the owner had given me a great deal (wholesale)

I had a 94 SL with nitrous in it my sophomore/junior year, then my dads friend was selling his 97 VR4 and I bought that and did a few things to it, bost controller set to 15 (stock was 12 I think), full downpipe exhaust, cone filter, tune. the HP was about 370+ up from the stock 320. Those things can be streetable 10 seconds cars because of their AWD. Mine never ran faster than 13.0, but I never really got too crazy on the launch with it. It was my DD in HS. It's cheap to make those do 11's. I want to buy one, but can't afford it at the moment. Turnkey 11 second car can go for under 20 nowdays.

i had a 2kgt vr4 back in 2001. 6 speed, all the goodies. lvoed it. at the time though i coudln't afford the mods i wanted to do plus the payment. since i can't stand to have a car stock, i traded it in for something i could afford to mod and pay cash for which was my first AWD talon. i would really like to pick up anohter 3kgt/stealth. they're cheaper now and i can afford the mods too!

they can make an take a lot of power. it's easy to get them to 450awhp. that'll put you in the low 12's high 11's for about 4 grand. New turbos, intercoolers (they have twin intercoolers stock, but I'd go FMIC) injectors, retune it. good to go. oh, and a new clutch cuz your stock one won't last at that power level.

oh yeah, twin 16G's with a front mount, 3" downpipes, 18 psi, injectors and some tuning will get it on those cars! i've been messing with turbo mitsu's for years, in the eclipse version, and they make a very strong engine that will make a lot of power. i may look for a 3S soon....

my dad had a 93 GSX when they first came out. the 4G63 is a good platform for modding. Strong motors that can handle good power.

I have a batch of similar crap on my supra
I rarely use the boost controller
we estimate the HP at about 500
hell I have 112,000 miles on that car and it's on it's 9th set of rear tires
and I don't hot dog around town
I'm more of an open road driver

at 500, you must be running pretty high boost, cuz otherwise you aren't getting 500hp.

that's sick though. a 500hp supra is dang quick. Check out some of the video on youtube of ome of those supras on the highway with 600+RWHP. it is so awesome.

I've gotten into duels with high performance bikes
and we're neck and neck
there's a straightaway four lane leading out of the city with great visibility and concrete walls between the other direction lanes
at 4am there's usually no cars out there
that's fun time

a chcik was driving my supra before I had much done to it and we dueled a police lieutenant friend of mine in his corvette
his corvette beat my supra

we were leaving a somewhat secret cop watering hole
those cops can drink
I can drink too so that's why chcik was driving

They made 300 stock right? or 320. can't quite recall on the supra.

to get to 500, which is very doable no doubt, you'd have to upgrade quite a few things. The boost needs to go up quite a few psi, the exhaust gets opened up completely, a high flow intake of sorts, new injectors.

It's gotta be higher boost getting th ebpower. How much boost do you run? I never knew the stock boost on a supra but I assume it is close to 10. to get 500hp (a 66% power increase) the boost would have to get up in the 17-18 range.

I run 0PSI on the blower on my stang, and get about 470 to the tires (poor tires, lol) which comes out to about 525 HP or so at the crank. And can hang with the bikes (and beat a few of them) like you say with the supra.

that's about where I'm at with the supra
I need a 4th clutch (the 3rd was TRD)
then I'm getting a FMIC and larger injectors
I've already done the suspension and have slotted cross-drilled rotors

I don't care about qtr mile times
I like going from 80 to 120 PDQ
so I can leave those assholes in pickup trucks and such always right on my ass

I'll pass these "macho" P/U trucks and they're doing about 75
I'll pass them at a modest 85 or so
next thing I know they're right on my ass

or dads driving minivans
fuck I'll be doing 90 and there he is right on my ass
I can see the kids heads bouncing around in the van

I can quick swerve avoid a hazard in that car at 90 easy
she's articulated low and tight

he has a hazard he's gone and that van is tumbling

you're liely right I'm more like at 450
I have wide open exhaust-no cats, just one fat I think 3 inch pipe and a high flow muffler
the car sounds really strong-like much more than 3 liters
my buddy installed most of the mods
I did the research and bought them
apex boost controller and some sort of boost thing under the hood
blitz intake
blow-off valve
I got some kind of premium injectors but they're not larger
I think 550CC is next-that's about 400

and today I noticed one of the tires on my bronco is compromised and they're 300 a piece

and I don't have a license and when I do my insurance has been as high as 450/month

these day's I pay cash for cars
so I can garage them and scale back my insurance

I feel like I'm paying the insurance for all 4 vehicles as if they're all moving 15,000 miles per year
which isn't the case

If I had 4 cars and a wife and two driving age children
yeah bill me
