antibiotics question

If you think you are getting an infection at injection site will antibiotics clear it up?
My buddy injected Tuesday 200 mg. (QV bold 200) I looked at the site today at the gym it is red and he said it is a little warm. I know he can go to the doc but guess what? His father-in-law is his primary doc and he will hit the roof!!

he needs a doc thats cool with it. its essential shit happens. i got a sterile infection which is too much juice in one area. antibiotics from the doc cured it. it was a bump under the skin though not visible. u have to wait 5-7 days. if not gone he needs to see a doc. good luck

Cephelexin works fantastic for the type of infection your refering to and is very agressively priced (cheap). I've seen many infections of this nature and If its red and warm I'd get it taken care of straight away. The odds of it healing on its own are not so good. Get r' done!

the odds of this being an infection are slim. its' mostly a reaction to the bold. my arm gets red and warm all the time when i inject prop based steroids. It will eventually (the side effect of warm and pain) go away once your muscle gets used to it. take 2 tylenols and 2 ibuprofens 2 times a day for a few days. it will hurt for about a week. if it gets any larger in size - noticeable difference more than 1" , and you start running a fever over 103, then seek medical advice, but most likely, this is just a temporary side effect. no worries as long as you swabbed the site with alcohol, swabbed the top of the bottle, etc..

It might not be an infection I injected my ass I guess I hit a small vein or whatever the next 2 days I had a huge lump I thought for sure I had an infection but I would get a towel and dip in to warm water and just massage the area next thing I knew it was gone in about a week. If it gets worse seek medical attention and how old is your friend???? if your old enough you can always go to a another doctor doesnt have to be a family friend

100% correct. And for Christ's sake....don't start taking Keflex (Cephelexin) without an MD checking you first.

Talked to him this morning and he said red mark at injection site went away.
Still sore not as bad as last night he said. Still has a knot and kind of hard where he injected. I've had this before.
He started taking 250mgs of zythromax last night just in case it was an infection. Will the zythromax work? I guess time will tell.
