answer this question honestly

if someone killed, raped, molested etc. and did there "time" and were deemed fit to be a member of society again. would they really have a clean slate in your eyes?

the question arouse from bino's sad thread.

in my eyes once you commit something like that you'll have that title of whatever you did for life.

honestly don't see the downward effect of offing these guys on the spot. 3 strikes seems to be a bit to much. the best lessons are learned the first time.

it also makes you think about why you never hear on CNN of a serial killer only targeting these types.

no...i don't think you can fix something that is that broken...plus, i honestly believe that some crimes are not worthy of attempted rehabilitation.

Of course not. That is impossible. Even if they were "rehabilitated" we are talking about perception here and that will never change.

As a psychologist I have mixed feelings on this subject :(

i imagine that some of these people could possibly be "fixed", if you will...however, i think that some crimes against humanity are so egregious that the perpetrator should not be afforded the right for an opportunity to get "fixed".

Well some behaviors may not be corrected but SOME people can learn ways to channel/deal with it or suppress it, but not all can hence why I have mixed feelings since punishing all in the category could imply punishing some that stand a chance, I also feel like we are not ones to judge what people do since we dont know why they do it, like the example I stated in the Evil thread, it was a dude that killed some people but the bro had a brain tumor that contributed to the cause, so not cool to judge him since we dont know the whole story and nature/reason behind the facts...

Rapists & child molesters should be exterminated. Bottom line.

Murder is a little different. It would depend on the circumstances if the crime.

I happen to agree with this

if you mix this up a little...murder of a child is unforgiveable...and I don't see how this could be justified beyond true insanity in any meaningful way that would mean the person is rehabilitated...

my perception of that person would not likely change...but certain mental illnesses like schitzophrenia....well...were they even aware they were killing a person much less a child?

Agreed.

Rapist and Molesters knowingly subject the weaker to do horrible things.

If someones mind chooses to do that , there are already to far gone.. or just a plain Horrible being.

Suppose I witness someone raping or molesting a child and I murder the perpetrator. Under those circumstances how would you view me and the act of murder that I committed?

I have mixed feelings.

For murder, I believe the circumstances need to be explained.

As for the rape and child molestation, no, fuck that.

i'm surprised that people think that rape and molestation is worse than murder.

i'd rather be raped/molested than murdered (puddlemonkeys reply: that's because you don't get any)

but seriously think about it
