I found this quote in an article from Pro Football Weekly written by Jerry Magee - thought I just had to share it.

"All this to-do about anabolic steroids, and so little being said about how they work. Allow me.

They reduce the bulk in a user’s stool, and through exercise, he or she is able to convert the matter retained in the system into muscle.

Yuck. Ugly, isn’t it?"

LOL,

Its partially true but not like it sounds!

Seems like he is trying to make it worst than it is!

i wouldnt say its true at all...your body will absorb whatever nutrients you give it, no matter your drug use...its simply a matter of storing it as fat or muscle. aas = more muscle. no ass = more fat.

looks like the guy is confused between absorbing food absolutely, and absorbing it to do something useful with it

Black bears don't excrete anything during the winter month, they can recycle all the nitrogen that would otherwise get lost. Testosterone helps the human body to a certain amount to do the same, its gets better with increased dosage. therefore muscle wasting is limited when you diet if a lot of gear is present in the body. so i would say i a cutting cycle the statement has some truth in it, i a bulking cycle i doubt it makes significant difference, here T just alters the body composition as GoldenDelicious said.

SO you don't think AAS Increases the bodys effeciency in the absorbsion of protein?
I disagree.

At any rate, i get pissed when writers go ahead and make uneducated remarks about things they should do more research about. I am in college now and if I did that I would get suspended from school for making up information.

You are right. AAS --> increased N retention, increased protein synthesis, increased metabolism ---- more food is used as fuel. In its most basic sense the statement is true.

Hypothetically: If you did an experiment with two groups of people that had exactly the same metabolism and fed these two groups the exact same amount of food but put one on AAS and the other on a placebo..... The control group should produce less waste. You would also have to find a way to make their AMR's the same.

RADAR is right. The only difference here is that this journalist, as many many others is trying to make things look bad and dangerous. That's the way they make money. Being opportunists.
