another B12 post (very odd question)

What kind of dog food do you feed him? I had a Doberman that I was feeding Science Diet and he had similarities to your Shepard.
I switched to a cheap brand from WalMart and it fattened him right up. The premium dog foods are formulated to reduce waste and maintain leaness.

The cheap dog food has more carbs than protein, and dogs turn carbs to fat the same way people do. That's why dogs who eat the cheaper stuff tend to be fatter.

According to AustinTX, he is underweight...I can definitely see individual rib-bones. At one point I was feeding him a lot of human food (fatty-shit that my Fraternity serves...that I have to pay for even though I hardly ever eat it...but that's another story), and I could see him putting on the weight, but it was probably all fat. He became out of shape, and couldn't keep up on the runs that we go on sometimes. Believe me, I've tried ALL kinds of food for him. He is a VERY picky eater. I have to chop some turkey, ham, burger, or some type of human food and mix it in with his dog food (Purina's Moist n' Meaty). He will NOT eat hard dog food!!!

oh yeah, I don't think it'll be too bad holding him down. Its got to be easier than when I'm clipping his toe nails. Oh, and it'll be B-Complex (not just B12)...its the same stuff I use.

Should not be a problem giving it to your dog. You may also want to give him an appetite stimulant as well.

Buy some Omega fatty oil and put it in his food also. He WILL get the shits. Not the painful ones.

Face away from your dog and wrap your left arm around and under his torso. Use a 1/2 - 3/4 inch 25ga. Hit him in his upper hindquarter while holding him in place with your left arm. He will not even flinch.

Sounds like he may be working you. He *will* eat hard dog food when he's hungry enough, it just may take 3 days. I would recommend cutting all the human food out (and canned dog food). Once he realizes that he can't hold out for fraternity/wet food, I'll bet he'll start eating a healthy amount of dog food. If you keep breaking down, he'll just starve himself for a couple of days until he gets a burger....

Its really hard to keep him away from the human food, when I've got 70 other guys and their girlfriends telling me that he looks to skinny, and feeding him food when I'm not around.
