Just wanted to post up and stress to my elite buddies about the danger of abcess and catching them early. About three weeks ago I noticed a small welt on my delt (no pain, redness, fever, etc..). It drew my attention, but didnt really think much of it because i didnt have the popular symptoms associated with an abcess. Not only this, but i ALWAYS use a new needle, alcohol swab the bottle and injection site, wash my hands before injection. I further never inject water based and oil based AS in the same shot, rotate sites, and massage to distribute the oil. In other words everything possible to avoid an abcess.
Well two days ago i decided to find out exactly what was in that little welt so i popped a 23g 1" in the sucker and drew back. Well 7cc later of pure puss i felt it was time to take a little trip to the hospital. Remember not ONE symptom of abcess was present except for this little welt which i could have easily overlooked. Doctor provided me with a script for keflex (antibiotic) and told me to take it for two weeks. After that i come back and if it didnt work we will slice and dice. So the bottom line is...watch yourself and stay SAFE.
