Annie's first log

Ok, I'm trying to lose weight in order to run the London Marathon in April next year.

I didn't realise until a couple of weeks ago exactly how much weight I had gained, I'm now a very embarrassing 170lbs.

I have joined the gym again, my diet has always been good, but last year I was training 7 days a week, then went to zero, so the weight was bound to go up. Due to the fact I work full time, have college at weekends, and have a teenage son, I am limited to going to the gym a max. of 4 times a week.

I've been using fitday.com to keep an eye on what I'm doing as well.

Diet:
Breakfast - 1 egg + 2 egg whites

Snack - almonds

Lunch - tuna & veg.

Snack - almonds

Dinner - chicken & veg (if I go to the gym I add brown rice).

If I go the gym I have a protein shake before and after.

At night if I'm hungry I have 2 egg whites. (This I do about 3 times a week).

If anyone has any advice about what my diet I would appreciate it.

Exercise - Cardio 4 times a week, weights 3 times a week.

I realise that some cardio should be done in the morning, but all I can do is walk at the moment, as I'm too heavy to run.

I put this up thanks to Ilk as she suggested that by logging my progress I may get extra encouragement - so thanks you!

You can be now......Im right around there weight wise and just did a 5K in 29 min.....you can do it....my goal is a 10K next spring.....

Good for you - well done!

I'm only 5'2" so my weight means I'm clinically obese. I'll have to start looking at 5 & 10k soon enough - wait till I can do that distance on the treadmill first though!

So far today from fitday.

My carbs are all veg & some almonds.

I will have omellete tonight - 1 egg + 2 egg whites and a protein shake.

Tomorrow more or less the same, but I will add rice as I'm going to the gym and 2 protein shakes

Annie...good for you! Marathons are so exciting.... I know you can do it, it's all in the training. I'm working towards my 4th so if I can help in any way let me know..........

Funny you should say that, I've been having more Calories over the past two days and lost 2 lbs.
How long have you been on this diet & caloric intake? Since before the 13th?

The 2 lbs MAY be water related.

You make a good statement ... "having MORE calories" helped with some lost poundage... keep that in mind.

Even though you are small at 5'2", @ 170 lbs your body will need more cals than 1200. Even at 120 lbs, I still feel your cal intake would be better around 13-1500, more toward the high end ESP if you are a marathon runner.

It's hard to absorb at first, but by NO MEANS do we want you to fail, we would only give advice to help you. :rose:

Will keep you informed. I'm just ensuring I'm well conditioned before putting many miles in my legs - think my knees would complain if I went running right now. Hoping to be able to start building up the mileage towards the second half of November. Then I get 5 solid months of training before the marathon.

Well the 1200 was before the end of the day - and I was going to have another 300 cals for the protein and omellete.

Before the 13th I'd stuck to 1300 max - now I'm doing 1500 or there abouts.

I had a protein bar - more calories than a shake before I exercised as I wasn't going home after work in order to make it.

Annie! I'm glad you decided to log! Proud of you..

I shall meet you sometime next week at charring cross!! Keep up the good work.. Being here, Gaining knowledge from everyone will help you lose what you want!

Ok, so I'm now 167lbs - and eating:

Protein: 137 550 38%

Did a body combat class last night - all that jumping up and down is a killer. Really felt my calf muscles working.

Last night I managed to run for 20 mins - well I say run, it was definately a jog - but you know what I mean! :) Then I walked at a 5% grad for 10 mins. First time I've been able to run for more than 5 mins.

Yesterday I ate:

Congrats and good luck on your new venture.
I think it's best to have carbs b4 traning and not protein. Protein should be reserved for after working out to feed the muscles. I would cut out the proteinn drink b4 the gym (work-out).....Just my suggestion.
Also, cardio does not need to be done in the morning. The benefits from cardio are as effective anytime of the day.

Good luck and keep up the journal :-)

Anafit has great stuff....it made a difference in my belly fat....
I've checked out the website, they do a lot of different things - plus its American, and I can't find the products on any british websites.

Have you got the name of something I could look up?

I take Levorox, seasapure and Glucerrol....Im sure I spelled them wrong LOL from anafit....ALSO.....I have been using cordyceps (type of mushroom) from the health food store that increases lung function and endurance!!

Hey Annieree, I'm new to the forum as well. All the best on your journey. Also i maybe wrong here, but the content of your macro's would be good to post. Not every carb or fat is created equally. Just to ensure while your in a negative caloric state your getting the most from your intake.

interesting....I always wanted to try fat burners. They work for you? any side effects? Any stomach upset etc????

Already done on the first page - its an example of what I eat each day.

Doesn't vary that much day to day, but occasionally have brown rice or pasta for dinner 2 hours before the gym.

Last night did weights and then 30mins cardio.

Run for 16 mins (bit faster than last time - but couldn't keep going for 20 mins).
Walked up hill for 14 mins grad 4%

Weight 165lbs - slow but steadily down

Morning hun.......Im off to run as soon as the kids bus comes.....
Hello - hope you enjoyed the run.

I am will be doing running a couple of mornings a week, as of next week. Now that I am capable of jogging round the block without passing out I'll have a go at that before work.

Then have someone check your form and you can do a 1/4 squat which is better on my knee....but you can avoid them and do something else....Don't kill your knee....

cheers I'll give the squats a rest for a while.

Will the rowing machine be okay?

Hi Ilk! Hope your feeling more awake now! :)

Hurt my knee whilst doing squats.
Can you explain how you are doing these? Are your toes straight ahead or pointed out a little? How far are you legs apart? How heavy is the weight? Just the bar?

I seen you doing incline walking, jogging etc.. maybe the new pounding is causing added pressure on the knee joints?

Like GG said, check your form & NEVER work through pain, 'ache' is different than pain.

Keep at it girl.

Knee never comes over the toe, basically stick my backside out. I had a dodgy knee before, but its been fine for the last 6 months - it feels like the knee cap is grinding, I've been to the drs before and she said it was where the muscles around the knee weren't strong enough to hold it in place properly, and just said it needed strengthening. I do a few exercises for it, so will just keep to them for the time being.

tonight I'll do rowing machine and cross trainer - see how the knee feels before attempting any walking / jogging!!

I personally would not fo squats right now...I have had a bad knee for the past 1yr 1/2 and I just would do something else so you don't make it worse

Hey Annie!! Hope dinner was nice.. ;)

Whats the workout plan today??

Hello girlies!

Been a bit of a lightweight - I'm going to the gym tonight! Promise!
Going to do warm up on bike, 1500 metres on the rower, 15 mins on cross trainer, then see how the knee feels and will either walk up hill or jog for 20-30 mins.

Afternoon Annie!!!

Nice day today.. Cool but sunny!

How did yesterday turn out on the knee??

Well done for either walking/jogging up hill..

How's diet going??

Didn't manage to go to the gym on Tuesday - washing machine broke down and 'the man that can' didn't turn up till 9.30pm!

Anyway went to the gym last night did bike, rowing and 35 minutes on the cross trainer, did that rather than the running as I felt my knee a bit - not bad, just enough to remind me it was there.

Carbs were really low, so I've added 1/2 cup of oats for breakfast, and have only 3 egg whites rather than 1 whole egg and 4 egg whites.

I was going to go for a walk lunchtime, but looked out the window and decided it would be safer in doors - its going to throw it down at any minute and I got wet enough earlier!!!!!

So, as my days are messed up I'm going to go to the gym tonight, and Sunday, then I will be back to normal.

Been very slack on the weights this week, and just to top it off my knee feels much better, and now my shoulder has this dull ache!

this whole exercise thing is a real pain;)

I'm very good, always warmup, warmdown and stretch!

It may have been the rower - I did more than I've done in months on that on Wednesday.

Nearly time to go home! Must remember to get my legs waxed - I'm seeing my bf for the first time in 4 weeks tomorrow and I look like a gorilla!!!!!

LOL at gorilla!!! Don't think its that bad!!!

Rower.. Yeah seems about right! Now don't over do it!! Relax the shoulder work elsewhere! 4 weeks long time huh!!

Enjoy :velvett: ;)

Been a lazy arse. As

First my knee, then my shoulder, then my neck, just falling apart at the seams! Plus I spent the first part of last week working away and the hotel didn't have a gym! Horrifying!!!

Going to use the bike and cross trainer today, and possibly the rowing machine - see how it goes.

Girl!!! Whats going on! Hows the knee, Shoulder, Neck today?

Cross trainer def! Do that and rowing today.. Neck is prob strained.. Keep it moving..

Feeling all better thanks :)

was completely shattered yesterday after having college on Saturday and Sunday - so no day of rest.

Am off to the gym tonight - going to be a good cardio session - I can feel it ;)

Ran 3k on Tuesday.

I'm hoping to do 4k tonight - depends on my social life though - I've got a leaving do to attend at work (mine) - I start a new job on Monday :rainbow:

I started a new job on monday so have been really busy, but have still managed the gym.

Did 4k on Saturday, 3k on Monday and 1.5k last night- got cramp in my ankle and down the side of the other leg! Its really annoying!

Hey there lovely lady!

Hope new job is going well! Keep up the good running!

Started a new job, so internet usage restricted. Also still at college at weekends so life is full - but fun!

Went to the gym last night - only managed 1.5k though - had a bit of a bad belly - so came home and did some stretches and weights.

Will try again for the gym tonight!

Okay when is the first race......I have a dual next weekend..and I don't now if I can do it...I need to be running but today I can't breath lol

Ok, back to the gym!

I didn't get in the London Marathon, the exams were a nightmare, and now I need to get back into the weight loss routine.

Diet has been good, but with studying for the past 6 weeks, the gym has had to take the back burner.

So back into it this week. Promise!!!!!!

Ok, today will be weights - legs.
bike - 15 mins warm up
Cross trainer - 45 mins.
Rower - ?? hopefully 15 mins.
If not too dead after that lot will do the stepper for 15 mins

Really looking forward to working out hard - its been a while!!!

God this is hard to get into!

Boyfriend dumped me so that should be an incentive to make myself look in better shape for next time I bump into him - and can say 'see what your missing'!

That is a good incentive, but in the long run do it for yourself, and do it to spite someone secondarily.
So what's your plan on killing the body? ;)

No..

When was that?

Split up last week - trying to hide from the fact....... :(

I'm ok, it wasn't going well, but still not nice.

Especially as he says he wants to be friends but I'm not allowed to go round to his house - very suspicious. Don't think he's got someone else - but me being the jeolous paranoid type - I'm making up lots of things in my head.

Oh hum - life goes on - 4 years down the drain - can't blame him really - I have got very fat - and don't feel attractive.

Which is where you lot come in - I need motivation and hints on how to get fit and make him jeolous.

Oh and I've booked a holiday to Thailand :rainbow:

YAY your back!!!

((((HUGS))))) about the man thing.....That stinks....but it always gets better....really it does!!

Hey Annie darling!!!!!

Great workouts... Hope all is good with the diet... have a great sunday girl!

I hope you feel better, and don't dwell on it.
I know how hard it is..BUT we must think of ourselves first...
You rang a bell saying you would have not booked trip to Thailand if you were still together...
I think we fall into a trap we make for ourselves...
We become dependent of men at some point and we have no identity at a point...
maybe that is exactly what they are running from...
maybe they LOVED our oldselves end we let go somewhere, and have to get that groove taht made them drool for us...
In an metaphor....leaches...
I hope it helps you to be unique and happy...
