well i've been to LA and new york and i wasn't scared... i even got lost by myself in new york and didn't get scared even though a cabbie almost ran over my foot LOL 
i do know someone who moved from toronto to my city and now lives in dallas and wishes he could come back here because of the crime... but i haven't been scared in the US yet so i have no opinion on that.
cripes i live in one of the more dangerous cities in canada.
try again i loved both those trips to the US.

well comparatively it doesn't stack up but it's not one of the safer cities.
actually i really liked new york and the people were super friendly and helpful - not fake friendly like LA
