Lets start at the beginning.
The Prodestant Pilgrims: Well the didn't leave England to find a new land to practice their religous beliefs without being persicuted. They were living in Holland before they came to the Americas and were practicing their religous beliefs there with no problems except for one. They didn't want anyone else around who didn't buy into their belief system so they left Holland to come to America because of all the "free land" and their kids wouldn't be corrupted by those damn danes.
The way the dress up pilgrims in all those festive Thanksgiving getups. Unhuh...wrong again. Those are outfits from the Victorian age. They dressed up pretty much in what you might see an amish or minonite wearing these days but with some color. You see dying fabric was a fairly difficult task back then so alot of stuff was black, grey, blue, red, white, basic stuff.
The helpful indians who showed the pilgrims how to plant corn? Well they were the last remnants of a huge tribe that had inhabited the area and were whiped out by good old white mans diseases. Pffft!!!!
They didn't have log cabins either! They built slate board houses just like that had for a couple hundred years in Europe. The Log cabin was a westward expansion phenomenon that came later.
