I have to write on how Poe, Irving and Theoreou contributed to modern writings. I really don't know where to begin and I need to have this thing in by tomorrow. Can anyone help an idiot out?

Any specific modern writers that they contributed to? Just thinking about this for the five or ten seconds that it took me to read this thread, you could make a connection between Poe and Dean Koontz and Stephen King. You might also be able to make a connection between Thoreau and the lost generation writers like Hemmingway.
