I increased the poundage on my deadlifts but when I touch my erectors, they don't feel as hard or as big as before. Same thing happens one day post-workout...

Before, when I touched my back, I could feel my erectors but now it's as if Im not even working them.

Should I drop some lbs off my deadlift?

That's a pretty subjective criteria and where body self appraisal is concerned subjective is almost always unreliable (think about all the self image issues abounding in today's society). Plus, it could be related to any number of things.

Anyway, as long as your technique is good, increaseing your weight in the lift will allow you to progress. Weight lifted is an objective criteria so there is no room for interpretation - it's a quantifiable value. Work on increasing your best set of 3 or 5 over time. You don't see guys increase their best set of 3-5 in any serious lift by a large margin and get smaller so the relationship is clear, constant and reliable. Increase your capacity and you will be bigger and stronger providing you eat a reasonable diet to support growth.
