My father died 8 years ago when I was 20. He died of a cardio myopthy, he contracted an accute virus at some point in his life that finally at 41 taxed his heart out. I have had yearly stress test's and ekg ever since, all have been normal. Would you quit juiceing because of this reason. Do you think it makes me a walking time bomb if on juice. I just got back from a new doctor that was kick ass, straight forward and enlightning. If you had or have a prior family illness do you still juice and why or why not?

Thanks

Based only on what you posted, it sounds like your dad's heart problems were caused by a virus which made him pre-disposed. This has nothing to do with heredity, and if you are checking out fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you get the same virus, it's not an issue. I would work out hard, but be cognizant of your heart, and take any discomfort very seriously. You didn't say if you got a stress test in your exam, but if not, you could get one. They put you on a treadmill and make you bust your ass to see how your heart does. This should be able to determine if you have any underlying cardiomyopathy. I'm curious what your new doc said about this.

Saltlick hit it straight. If the myopathy way caused by a viral infection you shouldn't be predisposed for the same thing. As long as you are in good health and keep checking out fine then you shouldn't have a problem with anything related to the heart and AS. Just like everyone else should keep you heart in as good a shape as possible.

First of all, sorry about your dad bro. I lost my dad earlier this year and it hits home every day. Now as far as the virus and AS, I also agree with saltlick. And taking Nimrod's statement a little further, here is the way I see it.

AS encourages you to stay in better shape. If you spend the money on AS, you will get your ass to the gym. Next, because you are going to the the gym and hopefully eating good, your body will react and look good. Next, because your body looks good, you will be getting tons of ass. Sex has been proven to lower blood pressure and be healthy for your heart.
There you go, AS is good for your heart.

I agree with what was said before. AS will not make you a "walking time bomb".

With regard to your family history of heart problems, whether or not you juice is not likely to have anywhere near as much impact on your own health as other things will, including:

1) The quality of your diet;
2) Whether or not you avoid obesity as you age;
3) Your level of cardiovascular fitness, as determined by the amount of cardio exercise you do;
4) Whether you smoke, drink, and/or abuse other drugs.

It could be argued that you may be doing your heart some good by gaining lean mass. Since each extra pound of lean mass burns 30 extra calories per day, if you are able to gain and maintain more lean mass, it will be much easier to stay lean and avoid obesity as you age.

So, my advice to you is: Do regular cardiovascular exercise, lift weights, eat healthy, don't smoke or abuse drugs, drink only in moderation, and use AS if you wish.

There is new evidence that testosterone is very beneficial to the heart. So much so that it is SLOWLY being suggested as a theraphy drug for people who had had heart attacks. It makes sence since heart attacks are the highest after 40 whwn your test is really getting low and all muscles atrophy including the heart. Also new studies point to the fact that you may get an enlarged prostate if your testosterone levels are too low. This is opposite to the current status quoe that prostate problems will be caused by very high levels, now doctors are thinking the prostate swells up kinda like a sail to catch more free testosterone from the blood stream. Very interesting stuff.
