I was just wondering. Could all of you - Killin, Blowin up shit, and Drivin the CO types please
Enlighten us poor Civi bastards regarding what you think is the Best and Worst part of being in the Military.

It may help us realize how much of a sacrifice you are making, and probably also
make us damn glad we're not you.

I'll never forget the things I've seen....I've been to places and done things that "never happened".....and I can't ever talk about it. I will carry those memories w/ me for life.....

same here the excitment is awesome but the pay SUCKS!!! your average Marine qualifies for food stamps and most have to get them to support their families, that and the WIC. Most married Marines I know are on both these programs, I personally that is BULLSHIT. I am single myself but I am still living payday to payday and rarely get to splurge on anything for myself. but I honestly cant see myself doing anything else.

The pay sucks for us enlisted folk.I loved being in the army the last 8 years.I will be out in a few days I will miss being a paratrooper ,but I will not miss hitting the ground hard as fuck!!!!!!:) I can always come back in.

As a Navy brat with my dad being career, I had to deal with all the shit like:

Moving every 1-3 years
Being Poor As shit all the time
Not having dad around for months at a time
Living in military housing in military housing neighborhoods.
Having to deal with my dad being whacked out by Vietnam
Having to deal with Bugs, Rats etc cuz my Mom or sisters couldn't and Dad was gone.

The Millitary is cool..But it can suck too...I got in a fight one day on the ship..got captian mass and that mofo gave me 45/45 restriction/ extra duty..Its like they are your parents and grounded me.There control over your lifE part of it wasnt for me so reinlistment was not even a though.

I can't figure out which is the best decision of my life:

That I joined..... or...... I got out after my first tour

I would make the same decision again though... they paid for my college, gave me some good hi-tech experience, and I got a VA loan on my house when I got out:cool:

For me,the best was the nw experiences, people andthings I never would have seen otherwise. The military made it possible for me to go to grad school. The bitch was marching to their rules, all the time, and the inflexibility of a lot of things
