So I'm new (hence the plat ) but I know nothing of not having it.... I presume I will lose it soon... then what happens? Will I stop seeing part of the board?

Na you will still be able to see the whole site. There is a lot of different things about being plat. It makes it a lot more easy if you are plat you will see what I mean.
