I ued to be able to drink for hours then go to sleep at 3, get up at 6 and work the whole day as if nothing happened.
Now if I party too much, binge, I suffer for a day or two. It's really hard to get back to your usual self. I swear it affects me for a workout or two even after 2-3 days.
Moderate drinking is okay, binge drinking will more than likely stop your progress.
I've been helping my friend move all day - I'm hot, tired, and exhausted. I'm having 2 beers to wind down. I'm sure it won't affect my workout tomorrow. In fact, I will make some PR's. But if I downed a 12 pack I would feel like crap, not sleep right, and not even want to workout tomorrow.
LMAO I actually knew a guy who had a college scholarship for track, screwed it up and joined the Army. He would actually run better wasted off his ass, I mean he would be swaying in formation lol. Tall beer gut dude that could run 2 miles under 13 minutes drunk ain't bad lol. He actually went to the field one time and we hid him in a vehicle because he was so drunk still he never remembered loading his gear or anything until noon that day.
I have a friend who swears that alcohol is a fuel, a macro nutrient as he calls it. He has had some huge days in the gym after a good night of drinking. As for me, i spent the whole workout doing a set and ssprinting to the bathroom, not my bestworkout, but works for him.
