ITS ATTACHED TO CANADA.

hawaii is at least an island, near the US, not attached to Paraquay or something.
Alaska isn't even in the same time zone as the rest of the states- how did we get it?

and why can't we have other states that are attached to other countries, like Angola or Burma where at least its warm?

Look at a map. It's separated from Russia only by the Aleutian Strait. Nome is closer to Irkutsk than it is to Seattle.
