ALA/L-Glutamine Question...

I got some tabs/capsules of both at walmart earlier today and would like to start using them.... how much of each do I use and at what time (morning, pre/post workout, night) should I use them? Thanks all very much!
 
L-Glutamine at the evening. What kind of diet are you on. Ala should be taken during carb up if your on a CKD. Thats all i know :/
 
ALA can and should be used on any diet IMO.

it makes post workout carbs and creatine uptake increase significantly (Celltech's 'magic').

It can help you stay ripped if you eat some before a meal you know will have a high amount of carbs.

400mg per 30-40grams if you want to stay in ketosis, once again my experience.

Glutamine has it's place if you are deficient for some reason, but take it on an empty stomach or with carbs because it will compete with other amino acids.
 
OK I have about 5-7 meals a day mostly veggies, protein, and whole grain wheat cereal, some yogurt, etc. Pretty much every meal is balanced high protein/med carbs/low fat. I work out MWF, and my only supplement right now is protein powder post workout and in some of my meals. When should I take ALA on this regimen?
 
do you take creatine? take ala with the post workout meal and creatine (with carbs of course). Then I would divide the rest of the ala with your other meals depending on much you're taking.
So for example you're taking 1000mg a day, take 400mg post workout, and maybe 300mg per the last 2 meals of the day.

As far as glutamine, I personally take it in the middle of my workout..right after weights and before cardio.
 
haha, you must be reading too much Nelson :p L-glutamine is not worthless according to studies but people are missing 2 key points: dosages are like 25+ grams, AND there must a reason your body is not making enough (catabolic).

But I do believe it has its place :)
