Air Marshals

I think this is one of the better ideas, having at least one per flight. The prospect of them being armed does not scare me in the least because I know current Air Marshals are armed with special ammo that does not penatrate the airplanes skin.

I know that 30,000 marshals+ could not be attained right away, but in time that number would be attained.

I also thing that sealing off the cockpit like El Al does is a excellent idea also.

Profiling? I think it would be mostly a waste of resouces.

WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT THIS RIDICULOUS AMMO THAT IS NOT USED? AND WHY DO YOU THINK AIR MARSHALLS STILL EXIST?

What the fuck are you babbling about? At least try to make yourself comprehendable.

THERE IS NO SPECIAL AIRPLANE AMMO. ANY FRANGIBLE AMMO OR HOLLOW POINT USED IN L.E. WILL NOT PENETRATE ANY METAL OF A DECENT THICKNESS, BUT THE WINDOWS IN A PLANE ARE ANOTHER STORY. ALSO AIR MARSHALS WENT OUT IN THE 1980'S THEY WERE MORE MEANT TO EXIST TEMPORARILY DURING PAST EVENTS WHICH INVOLVED THE MIDDLE EAST. AND NO THE US WILL NOT HAVE THESE ON EVERY PLANE ANYTIME SOON. THAT WOULD BE RIDICULOUS AND COSTLY. OTHER PRECAUTIONS ARE ALREADY IN THE WORKS AS WE SPEAK THAT ARE MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE.

HEY MZKZ WHAT PART OF MY ORIGINAL STATEMENT MADE NO SENSE TO YOU?
ARE YOU RELATED TO GARZA?

Different ammo have different penetrabilities. As for ammo that does not penetrate the walls of the aircraft, I don't know any personally....but such ammo may indeed exist.

Okay guys, Being that I am a stress Engineer and analyze aircraft structure. The thickest fuselage skin is on a 747 and is about max 0.2 inches thick. The average being around 0.125in. A bullet, especially a hollow point will go through that like a hot knife through butter. About the only type of round that would possibly not penetrate would be a type of snake shot. Unfortunately that would have little effect on someone with padded clothing and would pose much danger to others as it spreads out.

There are air marshalls right now, but they are not on every flight and are undercover. What they use for ammo, I don't know. But they would have to be experts in close quarters combat, knife fighting, etc. I would like to see them on most flights, if not all.

The current airport security and proposed security is a joke. Knives no longer allowed in airports? What am I supposed to cut my steak with at the resteraunt?

Did you know that you can make a credit card into a cutting instrument that I or anyone could use that could gut you in a microsecond? You can and you can make it once you are on board.

They should have flouroscopes for all to pass through. Get rid of contract labor, and possibly Federalize airport security. Now I am one for keeping the gov't out of our lives as much as possible, but for some added inconvienence I would go for this. I will not however give up any freedoms for a supposed trade off for added safety.

see mzkz my first post was not babbling. also these very rare air marshalls fly on international flights dont they chesty? in planes and country flights that are suspected o terrorist activity. not really very many domestic flights. ps snake shot rules, those bb's sting when you accidently shoot your boot with them. chesty tell me more about these air marshalls in all my flying armed classes they stated they did not exist on domestic flights anymore.

people have better odds of having a l.e. officer doing an extradition flight being on the plane rather than an air marshall. also on the extradition flights no special ammo is issued for airplanes. but pepper spray is not allowed on the planes, so how did the damn terrorists get it on? i guess you could easily hide a small can in your pocket. i answered my own question woo hoo

did you also know that you can roll A time magazine into a pipe shape and if rolled tight enough and bound will break bones as easily as a lead pipe.

Smith and Wesson actually made a Mod 36 Chiefs special designed to hold 5 rounds of plastic (yes plastic) ammo that had the velocity and energy to disable a human. It was not able to be reloaded.

Air Marshalls do exist on Commerials flights. I have a deputy Chief of Police who lives next door to me and we had discussion about a year ago about them, he told me that they do not divulge a lot of info about them, but that they are on more flights than you realize.

A plastic bullet at a low enough velocity say around 300ft per second may not penetrate the skin (aluminum), but could still pose a danger. Pepper spray would be ideal, except that if you trained enough, it would not bother you any, I have seen it in person on drunks that it did not affect.
