aids/hiv. needles question URGENT!

This is what happened, am in the gym on a room, sitting on the floor,
i have 2 new needles on me, i used one to get the deca in it, i had the other needle on me to change the head to a new one before i inject .

I changed the needle, and went to call my trainer to inject me, walk towrds him i put my hand in my pockets to realise i had a needle.

What i did, i change the needle to an already used needs thats someone used and left on the floor, and i was thinking its my new one,

i went back, i changed it to the new one in my pocket, and injected with my new one,

if the head that was used, was used by someone with aids, will i egt infected, even though i didnt use it? I only placed it on the syringe

The real question is, WHY THE HELL would you then inject with this barrel?! Seriously, WTF?!

I am going to speculate here - and this isn't to scare you - but yes, I believe a virus could potentially be transmitted this way, especially if the person aspirated and drew some blood through the needle.

Dude, I really cannot even fathom why you would still use this barrel after attaching a dirty needle used by someone else - regardless of whether or not you replaced it with your own.

i would be worried about infection not aids. the aids virus dies quickly when exposed to air. infection is verry likely though considering it was just lying on the floor. how the hell do you get a needle off of the floor in the first place. its on the floor for christ sake. treat you injections as a surgeon would treat a surgery. after all its kind of the same thing. it carries the same threat of death do to infection.

Ok, I'm confused, but going to reply anyway. First - I would never be working out at a gym where needles could be found laying on the floor. I dont care if it's in the bathroom or the gym floor, if I saw one on the floor even once I wouldnt go back. Second, if any of my needles hit the floor even at my home, I would toss it and get another and I consdier my house spotless, but even if it hit the floor, it's headed for the trash. Third, GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!! now... HIV and or AIDS will not show up right away, but they could start on Monthly montoring process on you and try for preventative measures. Besides i understand why that would be running through your head, but you have other things to worry about, such as infection, etc.

I hope that youare messing w/ us, but GOD be w/ you if your not.

And one last statement, like stated above by burnthiscorpse, if you cant inject yourself you shouldnt be using gear,..... I would like to add, if you cant use your gear in your own home, you shouldnt be using gear!!!

You have a much higher risk of contracting hepatitis B (35%; 1 in 28) and hepatitis C (1.8%; 1 in 55).

If you take HIV post-exposure prophylaxis meds (Truvada and Kaletra), it will cost you about $1,200 for a 30-day supply, likely make you sick (price doesn't include the Zofran needed for nausea or the possible complications), and will reduce your chances to 0.2% (1 in 500). You need to start PEP therapy within 72 hours of the injury, but ideally within 24 hours. You will need immediate baseline LFT's and CBC in order to start it, which is why usually this is only offered in emergency rooms.
