So last night i go in for a chest workout, feeling good, refreshed. I look at my log book, and aim for one more rep on the incline hammer strength than last week. didn't get it. so next up is dumbbell bench. i couldn't even get the damn weight up that i expected to get 8 reps with. went down in weight, did some compound sets with bench and flyes, finished with tris, and got out of there. i've been lifting real heavy lately, so i'm gonna take a week off now to let my cns and muscles rest. anyways, i was just wondering what you guys do when you are having/have a shit workout, and whether you take time off, hit it hard the next day, etc. So, what do you guys/girls do? later.

Screw this. I have been reading around the board after posting this thread, and I'm getting too pumped up to lift to not go. if i fall on my face (squat day today) i'll take more time off, but i'm getting too antsy thinking about what a good workout i could have if i went right now. i'm off, and i'll post results after. lol if i'm not lying on my face. later.

Same hapenned to me last night. Also chest day. just finished the work out (less intensity) did some extra cardio, went home, ate and went to sleep. :bawling:

It could be just one of those days, if you get a good workout feeling motivated today, just chalk it up to that. If you don't feel so great today at the gym, you probably need a little time to recharge, if not a week, take the weekend and come back ready to go on Monday with a new training cycle.

If I cant hit the big weights for one reason or another, I just go lighter, and more intensity, throw in some drop sets and dont stress it much

ok, so i'm back from my leg workout. mind over matter today, 'cause i had a good workout. i expected to squat 5 or less reps with my working weight, just because of last night. well, i nailed ten reps, and failed on the 11th. pretty happy about that. i puked halfway through the workout, i guess my breakfast didn't agree with me, but i finished my leg workout after that. i am gonna take three or so days off though now, and come back strong with deads. later.

some great advice i got once is if im in the middle of a workout and its not going good, ill switch up to exercises i rarely do, and go as intense as i can, that way, say if im doin back and deadlifts went bad, rather than doin barbell rows maybe ill do t bar rows and i push hard but since i dont know how much i 'normally' do or expect to do, you focus more on just working hard and dont get so stressed over a few pounds

I hate when I have a bad workout. It carries over into everything else that I do. Although, I have to remind myself that sometimes I have exceptional workouts as well. So, you take the bad with the good.

I don't have bad workouts anymore.

I get antsy on my off days and the gym is the main thing I look forward to.

I went today just to do cardio even though I have a treadmill at home.

It's an odd sudden change in the past couple months.
