Hi guys! I'm so excited. I just got a beautiful hardback copy of Vladimir M. Zatsiorsky's Science and Practice of Strength Training ! God, it's beautiful :nerd:

In fact, I'm going to start a new thread tonight for my westside log, for the post-zatsiorsky years. All clowning aside, I really expect this to help me further my understanding of what I'm doing.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in hardcore strength training. I will give more details after my read!

It is beautiful. That book was my foundation in strength training. I have read that damn thing at least 6 times and always come up with something new I overlooked. Congrats on getting a book worth all the money that it costs (expensive little bastard isn't it?). When you get done with that, PM me and I will give you a great lists of books to look at. I think Madcow has a list on his 5x5 thread too.

You really will learn a lot. You'll find out why the WS guys do ME, DE and repetition and how it effects your strength among other cool things.

I thought about buying the book, gues I've bee nto busy to pick it up.

Is it really worth reading? You might be giving me the motivation to go get it now....

Srry ...i'm new....what is a yoda?

Damn it, boy. I'm just beginning the second reading of this book. Quit rushing me, I'm readin' as fast as I can. A lot of good books are on the elitefts site (the westside site) for review or sale. I think the next one is going to be Ver. (sp). That looks good to me.

no. Louie read a lot of russian training material, which btw is mostly for olympic lifting, and adapted it to powerlifting. I keep westside in mind as I read this stuff. I try to understand why the westside barbell club was so successful. I did hear that elitefts was going to make a textbook, but I don't see it for sale. You can always get their video series too. I prefer to read the science, listen to Louie's advice, and draw my own conclusions. Right or wrong, at least it's mine. That's the only why I'll have the passion to train, is if it's mine.
